Xiaomi is gearing up to release new smartphones within its Xiaomi 15 series shortly after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip in October. An Ultra model is anticipated to be introduced to the lineup in 2025.
Camera Enhancements
While the debut of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is still on the horizon, leaks provide ongoing insights into the device's features. In a recent leak by Smartprix, in partnership with leaker Kartikey, details about the camera specifications for the Xiaomi 15 series have emerged.
The main camera system will undergo a modest enhancement with the inclusion of a revamped Sony LYT-900 sensor. This upgrade is expected to enhance the device's performance in low-light conditions.
The most notable improvement, however, will be in the telephoto camera. Xiaomi is reportedly planning to introduce a 200MP telephoto lens with a 10x optical zoom on the 15 Ultra, replacing the previous 50MP periscope telephoto with a 5x optical zoom found in its predecessor.
Additional Features and Specifications
Moreover, the smartphone is rumored to feature a 50MP selfie camera, an improvement over the 32MP front-facing camera found on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
Regarding other specifications, previous reports indicate that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will boast a display with a micro-curvature design on all sides. The screen will offer a 2K resolution and will feature an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
Internally, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor and up to 24 GB of RAM. It will likely operate on HyperOS 2.0-based Android 15.
Battery and Design Options
The device is anticipated to house a 6,200mAh battery to ensure prolonged usage. While the phone’s design details are still largely undisclosed, it is speculated that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra may be available in three different material options: plain leather, fiberglass, and ceramic.
