Xiaomi 15 Global Version Passes FCC; No Top Configuration

Xiaomi has recently revealed its eagerly awaited flagship for 2024, the Xiaomi 15 series, in China last October. This series is equipped with the state-of-the-art Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, showcasing significant advancements in design and performance.

Global Launch on the Horizon

Despite being exclusive to the Chinese market until now, a new listing on the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification site hints that a worldwide launch might be imminent. The listing indicates that the global version of the Xiaomi 15 will offer two configurations: 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage and 12GB RAM with 512GB of storage. In comparison, the Chinese variant can be found with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, which could be a drawback for hardcore users looking for more power.

Software and Compliance

In addition, the device is set to feature Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0, which is based on Android 15, promising an improved software experience. The FCC listing also confirms that the device has successfully completed important communications and security tests, a must for it to be sold in regions like the US.

Features of the Global Xiaomi 15

While detailed information about the global version of the Xiaomi 15 is still scarce, it’s anticipated to closely resemble the features of its Chinese counterpart. Here's what we know thus far: the Xiaomi 15 will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite, created using TSMC’s 3nm process. This chip includes a custom Oryon core functioning at 4.32 GHz, teamed with an Adreno 830 GPU to deliver outstanding gaming and processing capabilities.

The global variant will boast a 6.36-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1200 x 2670 pixels. This screen supports dynamic refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, achieving a peak brightness of 3200 nits and is certified for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, ensuring a top-notch viewing experience.

Camera and Battery Upgrades

When it comes to cameras, the Xiaomi 15 will feature a triple camera setup on the rear, with each sensor delivering 50 MP resolution. This setup includes wide-angle, ultra-wide, and a 3x telephoto lens. For reference, the Pro model’s camera differs only in its telephoto lens, which provides a longer 5x optical zoom.

On the battery and charging front, the standard model sees a notable enhancement with a 5,400 mAh battery, an increase from the 4,610 mAh battery found in the Xiaomi 14. It supports rapid 90W wired charging, along with 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 15 series will operate on Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2.0, based on Android 15, which introduces new AI-driven features and an upgraded user interface.

Although there's no confirmed global release date yet, considering Xiaomi’s historical launch patterns, it is probable that the Xiaomi 15 series will debut around February or March 2025, after the introduction of the Xiaomi 14 series earlier this year.
