Vivo has introduced a new premium tablet in China, marking its first release since the Pad 5 launched in spring. This new device, called the Pad 5e, was first hinted at in June. As previously rumored, Vivo has shifted away from the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ used in the Pad 5.

Powerful Performance

Instead, the company has chosen the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which we’ve already seen in devices like the Honor MagicPad 2 and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro (currently priced at $587 on Amazon), along with several high-end smartphones. The Vivo Pad 5e boasts a 12.05-inch IPS display housed in a slim 6.62 mm frame, positioning it as a competitor to the latest iPad Air models.

The display delivers a native resolution of 1,968 x 2,800 pixels, featuring a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a peak brightness of 900 nits. Additionally, the tablet is equipped with a 10,000 mAh battery, contributing to an overall weight of 584 g.

Software and Pricing

Sadly, the Pad 5e runs on OriginOS 5 instead of the latest OriginOS 6. However, it is anticipated that Vivo will eventually update the Pad 5e to the newer operating system. The starting price for the Vivo Pad 5e is CNY 1,999 (approximately $280), which includes 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, available in five different colors. Alternatively, users can opt for a configuration that offers up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage for CNY 2,999 (around $420). Vivo has not yet confirmed any plans to launch the Pad 5e outside of China.
