Ubiquiti Introduces SuperLink Sensor with 6-Year Battery Life

Key Takeaways

1. Ubiquiti Networks has launched its SuperLink products, introducing a new wireless protocol for smart buildings with a range of up to 1.25 miles.
2. The first product, the Environmental Sensor, monitors flood detection, humidity, light levels, and temperature.
3. The Environmental Sensor can connect to a SuperLink siren, which emits an alarm up to 110dB if limits are exceeded.
4. Ubiquiti plans to release additional products, including a non-PoE siren on November 25 and more sensors on December 25.
5. Pricing for the SuperLink gateway is $129, the PoE siren is $109, and the Environmental Sensor is currently sold out at $49.

Ubiquiti Networks has revealed that its initial SuperLink products are now on the market. This introduces the unique SuperLink protocol, which enhances smart home features in larger buildings and essentially transforms them into smart buildings. The wireless protocol boasts a range of up to 1.25 miles.

First Product Details

The first item released is called the Environmental Sensor. This device is equipped with various sensors that can monitor specific metrics. For instance, it has the capability to detect floods and track humidity, light levels, and temperature.

Additional Features

The sensor can collect this data and can optionally connect to a SuperLink siren. If certain limits are surpassed, the siren will emit a loud alarm, reaching up to 110dB. While the siren connects using Power over Ethernet (PoE) with a maximum draw of 5 watts, the sensor itself is flexible in placement because it runs on a CR123A battery. Ubiquiti claims a battery lifespan of six years, as the SuperLink protocol is said to be quite energy-efficient.

Upcoming Products

In the coming months, Ubiquiti intends to launch more products. A siren that does not use PoE, which will need four CR123A batteries, is expected to be available on November 25. On December 25, more sensors designed to detect glass breakage, door and window openings or closings, and motion will be released. The prices for these new products have yet to be announced.

The SuperLink gateway is priced at $129, and the PoE siren has a listed price of $109. The previously mentioned environmental sensor is available for $49, but it is currently shown as “sold out” on Ubiquiti’s official online store for customers in the US.
