Timex, in collaboration with Dimepiece creator Brynn Wallner and vintage watch expert Alan Bedwell from Foundwell, has launched a revamped version of its 1995 Intrepid sailing watch. This new model is named the Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition, and it makes its debut today, showcasing a modern design that is more suitable for everyday wear, while still being honored by John F. Kennedy Jr.
Original Features
The original 1995 Intrepid had a substantial 46 mm case, a slide-rule bezel for marine calculations, and Indiglo illumination, making it a practical choice for water activities and sailing. As noted previously, it was famously worn by JFK Jr., which contributed to its cult status.
Design Changes
The crown continues to be positioned at 4 o’clock, and the rotating bezel, 100 m water resistance, quartz analog movement, synthetic rubber strap, and mineral crystal remain unchanged.
Wallner found the classic Intrepid in a photograph featuring JFK Jr., which inspired her and Bedwell to pitch the collaboration to Timex. The first reissue of the 46 mm version sold out quickly. Wallner believes that the redesign reflects a shift in generational preferences in watch design, moving away from small, feminine styles adorned with pastel colors or jewels, towards more functional, gender-neutral options.
Pricing and Availability
The Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Edition is listed at $239 and can be purchased from Timex, Dimepiece, Todd Snyder, and various other retailers.
