TCL Expands Smartphone Range with TCL 50 Series Lineup
TCL, the renowned Chinese electronics manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest offering in the smartphone market—the TCL 50 Series lineup. Initially introduced at CES 2024, TCL has now provided further insights into these devices, including pricing and availability, at MWC Barcelona.
TCL 50 Series Specifications
One of the standout features of the 50 Series is the incorporation of TCL’s innovative NXTPAPER display technology in two models: the TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G and the TCL 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G. This technology brings the advantages of e-ink displays to standard smartphone screens, offering a paper-like quality and reduced glare, ultimately aiming to reduce eye strain for users.
In addition to the NXTPAPER models, the TCL 50 Series encompasses five other smartphones—TCL 50 XL 5G, 50 XE 5G, 50 5G, 50 SE 5G, and the budget-friendly TCL 50 LE 5G.
Detailed Model Overview
- TCL 50 XL 5G and 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G: These models sport expansive 6.8-inch displays with 120Hz refresh rates, powered by the MediaTek 23E+ chipset. They feature a 50MP main camera in a triple-lens configuration.
- TCL 50 XE 5G and 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G: These models come with a 6.6-inch 90Hz display with a hole-punch cutout for the front camera. They are equipped with the MediaTek 6835 23E+ chipset and a 50MP main camera paired with a 5MP ultrawide lens.
- Other Models: The 50 5G prioritizes affordability, the 50 SE targets entertainment enthusiasts with a large screen and powerful dual speakers, while the 50 LE offers a budget-friendly option with slightly scaled-down specifications.
Pricing Details
TCL has positioned the TCL 50 LE 5G as a super-budget option at approximately $100. The TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G will be priced below $229, while the non-NXTPAPER TCL 50 XL 5G will remain under $169.
Similarly, the standard TCL 50 XE 5G will be available for under $149, and the NXTPAPER version will come in at under $199.
Availability
The standard TCL 50 XL 5G is expected to debut at Metro by T-Mobile in Q2 2024, with the NXTPAPER variant set for release on TCL’s website in Q3 2024. Both versions of the TCL 50 XE are also scheduled for launch in Q3 2024.
