MindsEye, the debut game from Build A Rocket Boy, is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and digital storefronts on consoles. Created using Unreal Engine 5, the game features Arcadia, a unique creation suite that empowers players to design missions, environments, and gameplay mechanics all within the game world. Unlike traditional editing tools, Arcadia utilizes the same asset pipeline as the main game and allows for real-time testing in playable scenes.

    Pre-Order Benefits

As noted in official listings, pre-orders for MindsEye come with a free Deluxe Edition upgrade that includes cosmetic items, an extra Horde Mode mission, and seasonal content.

    Tools and Future Content

Arcadia offers a range of tools for scripting game logic, sequencing events, and triggering actions, all smoothly integrated into the playable world. The studio plans to release post-launch content, including a crossover with Hitman, which will also use the Arcadia creation suite. Recently, it was announced that Agent 47 will appear in a mission set in Redrock, expected to arrive in July, crafted by Build A Rocket Boy as part of the expanding roadmap after launch.

Gameplay footage that leaked prior to the release showed some visual inconsistencies, lighting problems, and frame rate drops. A day-one patch is ready to fix issues related to HDR calibration, mission flow, and overall performance. During discussions on Discord, co-CEO Mark Gerhard mentioned that he “do[es] KNOW that there are bot farms posting negative comments and dislikes,” emphasizing the studio’s commitment to integrated storytelling and player creativity in the long run.

    Studio Background

Founded by Leslie Benzies, who was a producer for Grand Theft Auto III to V, Build A Rocket Boy is aiming to position MindsEye as a cinematic narrative experience with extensive player tools. Multiple sources, including Game Developer, have reported that the studio faced executive departures just before the launch. Although this raised some eyebrows, the Arcadia system continues to be a standout feature that could greatly influence how the game is received and its lasting impact.

The question remains whether MindsEye will live up to its potential as a creator-first AAA title. Nevertheless, its technical aspirations and the integration of high-quality tools for players signal an interesting experiment in the changing dynamics between game developers and their communities.

Today, when discussing first-person or third-person shooters, most people immediately think of franchises like Call of Duty or Battlefield, which have significantly impacted countless gamers, including the well-known Battlefield 3. Yet, some players also recall Fortnite, Apex Legends, or Marvel Rivals. Back in the early 2000s, however, a specific game changed the gaming landscape, and now, 23 years later, an enthusiastic fan has revived it using Unreal Engine 5.

The Game That Started It All

By this point, many of you might already guess the game I’m referring to, which is Medal of Honor. The first installment came out in 1999 on PlayStation, focusing on the events of the Second World War. Although the franchise has been quiet since 2010, it seems like that might soon change.

    A Fan’s Passion Project

While fans are eagerly waiting for its comeback in the gaming industry, one dedicated gamer took the initiative to create something special. This fan, named Jos van Laar, has taken pleasure in recreating the “Scuttling the U-529” mission from Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, utilizing Unreal Engine 5.

In this memorable mission, Lieutenant Powell is tasked with sneaking into a German Kriegsmarine base located in Trondheim, Norway. With the assistance of Commandant Grillo and the Norwegian resistance, the aim is to destroy the NAXOS, a German weapon that poses a threat to the Allied forces. It’s clear that more exciting projects will emerge in the coming weeks, allowing players to relive memorable experiences.

    Key Takeaways

    1. Aion 2 is highly anticipated to surpass Throne and Liberty in size, technical goals, and financial success, with a development team of about 300 since 2018.

    2. NCsoft’s CFO expresses greater confidence in Aion 2 compared to Throne and Liberty, as NCsoft will manage the global launch independently, potentially improving profit margins.

    3. The game will feature stunning graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, alongside traditional PvE raids, mini-games, and action-focused combat similar to Black Desert Online.

    4. Aion 2 will incorporate microtransactions, but NCsoft claims it will be less pay-to-win than Throne and Liberty, a claim that remains to be validated by players.

    5. An extensive reveal of Aion 2 is scheduled for May 29, with a first playtest in Korea in June 2025 and a full launch planned for Korea and Taiwan in November, followed by a global release around mid-2026.

With Aion 2 on the way, NCsoft is gearing up for its next big MMORPG, and the buzz is palpable. According to recent reports from media and financial sources, this game is anticipated to outshine Throne and Liberty, not just in size but also in its technical goals and financial success. As the follow-up to the beloved 2009 game Aion, this project has been in the works since 2018 and boasts a team of about 300 developers.

    Confidence in Aion 2

CFO Hong Won-jun has made it clear that the company feels much more optimistic about Aion 2’s future than it did with last year’s Throne and Liberty, which got a mixed bag of reviews on Steam. Unlike Throne and Liberty, which is distributed by Amazon in Western markets, NCsoft will manage the global launch of Aion 2 on its own. This approach is likely to enhance profit margins, even if total sales are similar.

Stunning Visuals with Unreal Engine 5

Utilizing Unreal Engine 5, Aion 2 is predicted to offer breathtaking graphics. Players can check out the game’s visual style and ambiance through the teaser trailer:

Get ready for a combination of traditional PvE raids, fun mini-games, and a contemporary, action-focused combat system that feels a lot like Black Desert Online. For those who enjoy PvP, the realm-vs-realm battles from the original Aion make a comeback, with two factions engaging in massive battles that will be central to the endgame.

    Monetization and Upcoming Reveal

Aion 2 will include microtransactions, but NCsoft insists that its monetization strategy will be less pay-to-win compared to Throne and Liberty. With some Western players remaining skeptical, it’ll be interesting to see if these claims can be validated in practice.

NCsoft is set to provide an extensive reveal that will cover the game world, combat mechanics, monetization strategies, and other essential features. This livestream event is planned for May 29 at 7:00 AM EDT. The first playtest in Korea is scheduled for June 2025, with a full launch in Korea and Taiwan planned for November. A worldwide release is anticipated around mid-2026.

Although Aion 2 is primarily targeting PC platforms, there is still a chance for cross-platform capabilities. Initially intended to be a mobile game, the focus has shifted to PC as the primary platform. Currently, there’s no official statement regarding potential releases for PlayStation 5 or other gaming consoles.

  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Steam Deck Verified with High Requirements

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Steam Deck Verified with High Requirements

    Key Takeaways

    1. Bethesda has remastered The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using Unreal Engine 5, featuring demanding system requirements.
    2. The game is verified for use on the Steam Deck, despite not being explicitly mentioned on the official Steam page.
    3. Minimum requirements include an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or Intel Core i7-6800K CPU, Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM.
    4. Playable frame rates of around 30 FPS can be achieved on the Steam Deck with adjustments.
    5. The game requires 120 GB of SSD storage, potentially necessitating the uninstallation of other games for space.

Bethesda has finally unveiled the remastered version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is powered by Unreal Engine 5. As with all games utilizing this engine, the system requirements are noticeably demanding. However, Bethesda managed to get the game operational on a Steam Deck. Although the official Steam page doesn’t clearly mention this, accessing the game on a Steam Deck reveals a green check mark, signifying that it is verified.

    Minimum Requirements

A quick look at the minimum specifications shows that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion requires at least an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X or an Intel Core i7-6800K CPU, as well as a Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card. Additionally, 16 GB of RAM is also necessary. This is a bit more powerful than what the Steam Deck offers, but with some adjustments, you could achieve a playable 30 FPS.

    Performance Potential

That frame rate could likely be improved with the help of FSR and third-party applications like Decky Frame Gen or Lossless Scaling. However, a significant concern is the game’s 120 GB SSD storage requirement, which means you may need to uninstall some games to make space for Oblivion. Regardless, the achievement of getting it running on the Steam Deck is quite remarkable, and it will be fascinating to observe its actual performance.

  • Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Requires Huge Storage Space

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Requires Huge Storage Space

    Key Takeaways

    1. The remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been confirmed through images on the developer’s website, but Bethesda has not provided any official comments or details yet.
    2. The game will require a substantial 121 GB of storage on devices, a significant increase from the original 5 GB needed in 2006.
    3. Xbox users may face challenges finding space on their consoles due to the large file size.
    4. Bethesda is expected to announce the game’s pricing soon, with a likely cost of around $40.
    5. There is a possibility that the remaster may also be available through an Xbox Game Pass subscription.

The remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has been one of the least secretive announcements in recent times, with images surfacing on the developer’s website. However, Bethesda has yet to comment on it, not even hinting at any details. Recently, a group of data miners known as XoXLeak disclosed the amount of storage that the game will occupy on your device, and it’s quite shocking.

    Disk Space Requirements

Similar to many games utilizing Unreal Engine 5, it will demand a staggering 121 GB of space on your valuable SSD. For comparison, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion originally required just 5 GB, which was considered a substantial amount of storage when it debuted in 2006. This is going to be a hassle for Xbox users, as they will need to once again find ways to free up space on their consoles to enjoy Tamriel in all its Unreal Engine 5 splendor.

    Pricing and Release Expectations

The final detail missing from the puzzle of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster is its cost. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long for this information, as Bethesda is expected to quietly announce the game today (April 21). A price point around $40 seems likely. Anything higher than that might be seen as excessive, but there’s a strong possibility that it could also be available through an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
