  • Open-World Zombie Action Game Drops to $19.99 on PlayStation Store

    Key Takeaway

    1. Days Gone has gained a cult following despite initial criticism for its technical and narrative issues.
    2. The PlayStation 5 remaster is currently on sale for $19.99, the lowest price ever, with a significant discount from its original $49.99.
    3. The game excels in creating excitement and tension, particularly with its hordes of zombies and bike traversal, though its story and open world are considered weaker and repetitive.
    4. Fans value the game’s visuals, combat, and zombie-mowing action, making it a good deal at the current discounted price.

Days Gone is now available at its lowest price ever

Since its initial release in 2019, Days Gone has been kinda criticized for some technical and narrative issues, but it has garnered quite a following over the years. The game was remastered for the PlayStation 5 about a year ago and is now on sale at its lowest price till date.

    Latest Price Drop and Deals

The remastered version of Days Gone launched in late April 2025, costing $49.99 on PlayStation 5. If you owned the PlayStation 4 version, you could upgrade for only $10. Recently, there was a big discount, cutting 60% off until April 23, making it just $19.99 on the PlayStation Store. This is probably the cheapest you’ll see for a while; being a newer PlayStation exclusive, it likely won’t get cheaper soon.

    What is Days Gone about?

The game’s kinda divided opinion, but players who love it tend to be pretty passionate. When IGN reviewed it back when it was released, they pointed out that the hordes of zombies are really exciting but criticized the world design and repetitive gameplay. They also noted that Deacon’s personality and his cool bike aren’t enough to carry the story, which they found to be awkwardly told.

    Strengths and Weaknesses

It’s true that Days Gone has its shortcomings. The storyline isn’t its strongest point, and it’s not as compelling as other titles like The Last of Us. Missions tend to feel repetitive, and Deacon, the lead character, is criticized for being stubborn, one-dimensional, and lacking proper character arcs throughout the game.

    What makes Days Gone fun?

Despite its flaws, the game really shines when it comes to raising adrenaline. There’s nothing quite like cruising Oregon on an upgraded bike, or the rush of confronting your first zombie horde. The combat mechanics are enjoyable, though the gunplay isn’t quite as tight as in the top-tier shooters. The open world isn’t particularly captivating, but the game doesn’t really try to emulate a GTA-style sandbox; it’s more about the experience of survival and chaos.

    Fan reception and final thoughts

Ultimately, Days Gone is all about being a gritty biker adventure with impressive visuals, where you can crush hundreds of zombies in various creative ways. At $19.99, it’s an excellent deal for fans who want intense action and zombie mayhem. The game holds an 8.8 user score on Metacritic, which shows that many still appreciate it despite its issues.

  • Steam Machine Price Should Beat PlayStation 5 Hike

Steam Machine Price Should Beat PlayStation 5 Hike

    Key Takeaways

    1. PlayStation 5 price increases: Digital edition now $599, Disc version $649, and PlayStation 5 Pro $899.
    2. Valve’s Steam Machine could challenge PlayStation by pricing below $899 or $649, especially during PlayStation’s price hike period.
    3. Price increases for PlayStation influenced by RAM and NAND supply issues, along with global trade challenges.
    4. Valve’s opportunity to promote Steam Machine as a rival, leveraging its strong software platform and potential pricing strategies.
    5. Steam Machine may achieve higher framerates than PlayStation 5 despite having a weaker GPU, thanks to a robust CPU and advanced upscaling support.

Let’s get right to it—both versions of the PlayStation 5 have recently seen a price increase of $100 ($599 for the Digital edition, $649 for the Disc version), and the PlayStation 5 Pro has gone up by $200 (now at $899). This moment could not be better for Valve to reveal the pricing and release date for the Steam Machine, especially if they can keep it below $899 or $649. There’s talk about PlayStation reducing its PC ports because of the Steam Machine news, and even a former Xbox executive thinks that the Steam Machine will challenge PlayStation 5 and 6 more than Project Helix. It’s evident that the current console market is recognizing Valve as a genuine rival in the living room.

The Reasons Behind the Price Hikes

It’s no surprise that PlayStation has faced criticism from Xbox fans and analysts for these unusual price increases—they’ve been influenced by the ongoing RAM and NAND supply issues that have driven up costs for manufacturers. Since today’s consoles rely on PC technology, they’ve felt the impact of these price spikes as well. Plus, we can’t ignore the changes in global trade, imports, and tariffs. These market challenges are precisely why Valve has delayed announcing a final price or release date for both the Steam Machine and its standalone VR headset, Steam Frame. This situation has also resulted in erratic availability of the Steam Deck OLED, alongside the discontinuation of the Steam Deck LCD.

    Timing for Valve’s Opportunity

From a strategic standpoint, PlayStation’s decision to raise prices on its hardware makes it an ideal time for Valve to promote the Steam Machine as a rival to the PlayStation 5. The hardware inside should definitely be capable enough—my colleague Zak Killian at Hot Hardware built and tested a simulated Steam Machine with 27 games. This simulated system cost around $600 before adding RAM and didn’t benefit from any potential savings Valve could gain through bulk buying or manufacturing. Additionally, Steam is one of the most lucrative software platforms globally—if Valve employs some tactical loss-leading pricing strategies, it could make a significant impact, something that used to be quite prevalent in the console market.

    Performance Comparisons

In all honesty, the Steam Machine might not reach the same graphical levels as the PlayStation 5 Pro due to its weaker GPU. However, its CPU is quite robust, and since the PlayStation 5 Pro is limited by the same AMD Zen 2 CPU as the standard version, the Steam Machine could achieve higher framerates than either PlayStation console, especially with lower graphics settings. Moreover, even at similar graphics settings, particularly when aiming for 60 FPS, the Steam Machine appears more than capable of competing with the PlayStation 5 due to its advanced AMD FSR and Intel XeSS upscaling support. This comparison could improve even further if the anticipated AMD FSR 4 support becomes a reality.

The next move is yours, Valve—and from my perspective as a tech writer for a decade and a lifelong gamer, I strongly urge you to seize this chance.

The PlayStation 5 has sold approximately 217,000 copies, accounting for about 19%, while Xbox platforms, which includes console, PC, and cloud versions, have contributed around 133,000 copies, or slightly more than 11%. It has been over twelve years since the last installment of the Twisted Metal video game series came out, which was for the PlayStation 3. Even with the recent debut of a TV show inspired by the game, Sony/PlayStation hasn’t given any word on a new entry in the combat racing series. However, they did roll out some new merchandise related to the game. Luckily, other game creators are stepping in to fill this void, with one particular title set to arrive on PlayStation 5 shortly.

    Upcoming Title Announcement

Set in the vast Warhammer 40,000 universe, Caged Element along with Wired Productions have revealed that their car battle game, Speed Freeks (not to be confused with the 1999 game, Speed Freaks), will be launching on the PS5 (1TB disc version can be found on Amazon for $549.99) as well as Xbox Series S|X consoles.

    Game Features

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks offers both PvP multiplayer and a single-player mode where players can face off against bots. The console version will feature a multiplayer level editor, plus an in-game workshop enabling users to upload their custom maps to the cloud so that others can enjoy their creations.

Originally launched in 2025 for PCs, this title comes from the same developers who created the racing game Grip: Combat Racing. However, details regarding its price upon release on the PS5 remain unknown, and there’s no set launch date yet. You can, however, add it to your wishlist on both the PS Store and Microsoft Store.

  • Capcom Insider Teases Major Resident Evil Meeting After Requiem Launch

Capcom Insider Teases Major Resident Evil Meeting After Requiem Launch

    Key Takeaways

    1. Capcom is planning a significant meeting in 2027 to discuss feedback from Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) and other recent titles.
    2. Resident Evil Requiem combines classic survival horror with modern action gameplay, receiving positive early reviews.
    3. The game features a dual protagonist system with familiar character Leon S. Kennedy and newcomer Grace Ashcroft.
    4. Capcom aims to evolve the Resident Evil franchise by utilizing player feedback for future titles and downloadable content.
    5. Rumors suggest that Resident Evil 10 could be aimed for a 2029 release.

Capcom is already looking ahead after the launch of Resident Evil Requiem (RE9), as per a recent post that appeared on X/Twitter. The game, which was released on February 27 for PC and consoles, has received a warm welcome, prompting discussions within the company about the future of the series.

    Big Plans Ahead

According to a leak from the credible industry insider @AestheticGamer (also known as Dusk Golem), Capcom is potentially organizing a significant meeting in 2027 to review the feedback and data collected from Requiem, along with other recent titles such as the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village. The information suggests that this gathering could play a key role in determining the direction of upcoming games and release plans.

A New Era for Resident Evil

Resident Evil Requiem marks an important chapter for the franchise. The ninth main installment revisits the classic survival horror feel while blending in modern action gameplay. Early reviews for RE9 have been quite favorable, praising its dual protagonist system, cinematic style, and chilling atmosphere. Critics have highlighted the “mix of tension and spectacle,” with many considering it one of Capcom’s most assured entries in recent years. The game is available on platforms like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 (currently priced at $499 on Amazon for the Mario Kart World Bundle). It features beloved character Leon S. Kennedy alongside newcomer Grace Ashcroft.

    Evolving the Franchise

Capcom’s strategy for Requiem is a bit unique this time; the company is “evolving” the series after multiple successful remakes and updates. This likely indicates that the publisher is focusing on how to effectively utilize player feedback and performance data, with possible plans for future titles, including downloadable content and the next main installment, Resident Evil 10, which rumors suggest could be aimed for a 2029 release.

  • GTA 6 Pre-Orders Update: PlayStation Database Shows Game IDs

GTA 6 Pre-Orders Update: PlayStation Database Shows Game IDs

    Key Takeaways

    1. Title IDs for GTA VI have appeared in the PlayStation database, signaling that pre-orders may begin soon and confirming the launch date of November 19, 2026.
    2. The appearance of Title IDs indicates the end of Rockstar’s “blackout” period and progress from development to distribution.
    3. The new RAGE engine presents technical challenges, leading Rockstar to prioritize a stable console experience over a multi-platform launch.
    4. The release of GTA VI would end the long lifespan of GTA V, which continues to receive high ratings and player engagement.
    5. Some in the GTA community remain skeptical about Rockstar’s delays, with pre-order announcements expected to serve as confirmation of the game’s progress.

GTA VI title IDs have recently appeared in the PlayStation database, according to @PlaystationSize on X (formerly known as Twitter). This kind of information usually indicates that pre-orders are about to begin. If this is correct, Rockstar’s planned launch on November 19, 2026, seems to be set in stone at last.

    End of the Blackout Period

For years, Rockstar has been working in silence, but the emergence of Title IDs in the PlayStation Store suggests that the “blackout” phase is coming to an end. These IDs act like digital fingerprints needed for listing the game in stores; their appearance suggests that preparations for pre-orders and regional pricing are being tested behind the scenes. With the release date having shifted from an initial 2025 target to November 19, 2026, this development is a sign of progress—it’s the first real indication that the game is moving from development into the distribution phase.

    Technical Advances and Challenges

The “major” upgrade that the new RAGE engine promises is a significant technical risk for the game. Rockstar’s strict in-office rules were a reaction to the huge leaks in 2022, but they also relate to the complexity of Leonida’s world simulation. Managing such a high density of NPCs and physics-based interactions on current-gen consoles, like the Sony PS5 (currently priced at $444 on Amazon), is likely why a PC release date is still unconfirmed. Rockstar seems to be prioritizing a stable console experience over the risks involved in a multi-platform launch. This approach aims to shield the initial release from performance criticisms that have hurt other recent AAA games, even though the GTA series is expected to have a solid start.

GTA V’s Longevity and Community Skepticism

Releasing GTA 6 would also finally put an end to the ‘ridiculous’ lifespan of Grand Theft Auto V. On Steam, it continues to hold a 95% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating for recent reviews and reached a peak of over 187,000 concurrent players on the platform alone. Some members of the GTA community remain doubtful about Rockstar’s delay patterns—news about pre-orders starting in the coming weeks should serve as a decisive confirmation, assuming the leak is accurate.

  • New City Builder Launches on Steam with 1K+ Positive Reviews

New City Builder Launches on Steam with 1K+ Positive Reviews

    Key Takeaways

    1. Official Launch: Laysara: Summit Kingdom has officially launched its full 1.0 version on Steam after a two-year early access phase, along with an expansion for major consoles.

    2. Unique Gameplay Mechanics: The game emphasizes economic strategy and vertical building, focusing on the challenges of mountainous terrain rather than warfare.

    3. Campaign Mode: The 1.0 update introduces a 15-mission campaign mode, allowing players to rebuild in the clouds and construct a grand Summit Temple.

    4. Avalanche System: A key feature includes an Avalanche system that presents danger to players, requiring strategic planning to manage logistics and protect districts.

    5. Steam Deck Compatibility: The game is labeled as “Playable” on Steam Deck, with a stable frame rate but some menu interactions requiring the touchscreen.

Ending a two-year early access phase that began in April 2024, Laysara: Summit Kingdom has now officially launched its full 1.0 version on Steam. Created by the small indie studio Quite OK Games, the game was unexpectedly released on February 27, 2026, along with its expansion for all major gaming consoles, such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The release has seemingly sparked new interest in the game, which initially went viral online several years ago. This resurgence helped it return to the Steam top sellers list with a peak of 1,024 concurrent players in the first 48 hours.

    Unique Gameplay Mechanics

Unlike typical flatland city-building games like Cities: Skylines, Laysara focuses purely on economic strategy, emphasizing verticality and survival. There is no warfare or military management involved; the main “opponent” is gravity and the mountainous terrain. Players must create multiple connected towns across various mountains, each featuring distinct resource distributions and weather conditions. The main gameplay loop revolves around building upwards, which meets the complex needs of a three-tiered society consisting of Lowlanders, Artisans, and Monks. All this has to be done while navigating the physical challenges of steep cliffs and narrow ridges.

    Campaign Mode and Story

The 1.0 update introduces a structured narrative through a 15-mission campaign mode, providing valuable context for the inhabitants of Laysara who must rebuild their lives in the clouds. The main goal in most maps is to “conquer” the peak by constructing a grand Summit Temple, necessitating the channeling of significant resources to the highest points. The game’s atmosphere is largely tranquil and immersive. Its art style is unique and painterly, and players have genuinely appreciated the calming soundscapes.

    Avalanche System and Accessibility

A key feature is the Avalanche system. Avalanches pose a constant danger that can overwhelm entire districts, prompting players to erect artificial barriers or plant forests to redirect the snow’s path. Logistics are managed through a manual transport network, which includes paved roads, bridges, and vertical shafts.

The game is also very accessible.

Recommended Specs: Quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a GTX 660 equivalent.

    Steam Deck Compatibility

Steam Deck: The game is currently labeled as “Playable.” While it maintains a stable frame rate, users on forums mention that the default controller setup often needs the touchscreen for certain menu interactions or to bring up the virtual keyboard manually.

The Steam review aggregate stands at “Very Positive” (83%) from almost 1,000 reviews. Early reviewers are quite fond of the meaningful additions in the 1.0 update, especially the campaign and improved endgame. To celebrate the launch of Laysara: Summit Kingdom, the game is currently priced at $12.49 (50% off MSRP) until March 13, 2026. For collectors, a physical “Collector’s Edition” has been announced for PlayStation 5 (currently $444 on Amazon) and Switch, which includes a design book and a collectible yak figure.

    2. This game will be Insomniac Games’ fourth Marvel title, distinct from their previous Spider-Man series.
    3. The initial announcement occurred in 2021, but fans have not seen new footage since the teaser trailer.
    4. Pre-orders are expected to open before the release date, allowing players to add the game to their wishlist.
    5. Anticipated extras include pricing details, a limited edition DualSense controller, and possibly a special edition PS5 console.

PlayStation and Insomniac Games have disclosed the launch date for their eagerly awaited AAA title, Marvel’s Wolverine. This date aligns with the Fall 2026 timeline that Insomniac previously mentioned in November 2025.

A New Era for Marvel Games

Marvel’s Wolverine is generating a lot of excitement as it marks the fourth Marvel title from Insomniac Games. Unlike the previous three games—Spider-Man, Spider-Man Miles Morales, and Spider-Man 2—which are interconnected, Marvel’s Wolverine is said to kick off a fresh trilogy of its own.

    Initial Announcement and Fan Expectations

The game was first made known to the public back in 2021, with a teaser trailer following last year. Since then, there has been no new footage released. Although fans anticipated new details during the February 12 State of Play, the game was not mentioned at all.

PlayStation has now provided a confirmed date for when gamers can dive into this exciting adventure. A recent announcement on their social media platforms revealed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on September 15, 2026. While they haven’t specified, it’s likely that pre-orders will begin sooner. For now, players can add the console-exclusive title to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store.

    Anticipated Extras and Pricing

With about six months until its release, there’s plenty of time for PlayStation and Insomniac to unveil more specifics, including pricing details. Fans might also look forward to the announcement of a limited edition DualSense controller inspired by the game, and possibly even a special edition PS5 console, similar to what was done for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which you can find on Amazon for $45.69.
