    Dual-Screen Dreams Start With Acer’s Weird New Monitor

    Ahead of Computex, Acer showed the PM131QT secondary display in a showroom in Taipei. Unlike conventional PC monitors, the PM131QT has a very wide aspect ratio. It measures 1920 pixels across but only 720 pixels vertically, with a display diagonal of 12.3 inches.

    Gaming and Simulators

    That makes this display ideal for smaller tools but also for games with multi-monitor support where instruments, for example, need to be moved elsewhere. A conventional second monitor is not always ideal for this, as it may simply be too large. In Microsoft Flight Simulator, smaller instruments could easily be moved to the PM131QT, which could then serve as a third or fourth monitor depending on the setup.

    Frame Rate and Performance Concerns

    This should also work with X-Plane, see the video at the end of the article for a similar situation. However, this has a significant impact on the frame rate there. Since Acer’s monitor has far fewer pixels than a typical second monitor, that should have a positive effect. Racing sims should also be a good candidate for this. Here, too, some instruments are not important enough to remain on the main screen.

    Professional Applications and Touchscreen

    Acer itself is naturally focusing more on professional applications. Tools could be placed there instead. Thanks to the touchscreen, direct operation is also possible. The monitor can also be used in portrait mode, allowing it to be positioned on the side, for example. A tripod thread on the back provides additional flexibility if the integrated stand is not sufficient.

    Launch Date, Price and Connectivity

    Anyone interested will still have to be patient for quite a while. As Acer told us in Taipei, the display will not launch until toward the end of the year. The price is expected to be around $230. In terms of connectivity, Acer offers both USB Type-C and HDMI. The panel itself uses IPS technology and looked quite good during the demonstration.

      Nonetheless, Acer has also confirmed that the Aspire Go 15 2026 will feature a 15.6-inch display with an FHD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. This makes the panel less sharp than the Liquid Retina display on the MacBook Neo, and it’s possible that the peak brightness rating, which hasn’t been confirmed yet, will be lower as well. A 53Wh battery will power the internals of the laptop, and while the Snapdragon-powered Aspire Go 15 is slim, it appears to have a decent port configuration.

      Connectivity and Expected Pricing

      Acer notes that there is one USB-A, one HDMI 1.4, one 3.5mm audio, and two full-function USB-C ports. For wireless connectivity, there are Bluetooth 5.4 and WiFi 6E. These modern wireless standards ensure fast file transfers and stable connections to peripherals. There’s still no concrete word on the price, but it’s expected to have a starting price tag of around $399. As a matter of fact, it runs Linux, and its specs are similar to what we would find on cheap Android handhelds. While that might be surprising, the use case — which is for streaming games from your more powerful computer — sort of justifies why its specs are a far cry from those of the other Nitro Blaze handhelds.

      Display, RAM, and Storage Details

      Called the Acer Nitro Blaze Link, the handheld has a 7-inch touch display with a 1920 × 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. The display is the same size as that of the Logitech G Cloud, but Acer’s handheld has a higher resolution. There’s no mention of a high refresh rate, so it is presumed the display refreshes at 60Hz.

      Although the official product page doesn’t say, Videocardz reports that the Nitro Blaze Link has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of eMMC storage. There’s no mention of a microSD card slot and we didn’t spot one in any of the images. It is also reported to have a single-cell 18Wh battery that charges at 15W.

      Physical Controls and Button Layout

      With respect to its look, the display is flanked on the left by a thumbstick, a D-pad, and two buttons (Home and Back). There’s another thumbstick on the right, alongside the ABXY buttons, a mute button, and a Start button. The top of the Nitro Blaze Link is home to the power and volume buttons, and a USB-C port, while the bottom houses an audio jack.

      The handheld has stacked shoulder and trigger buttons. It also features dual front-facing 2W speakers. The back has ergonomic grips, and Acer says that the handheld’s 464-gram weight is easy to carry and comfortable to hold for long gaming sessions.

      Connectivity, Software and Release

      Acer says the Nitro Blaze Link has Wi-Fi 6 for low-latency streaming from a laptop or PC. Videocardz mentions that the handheld ships with Sunshine and Moonlight software for game streaming. Acer hasn’t revealed pricing details for the Nitro Blaze Link, but it is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter of the year.
