Sony Xperia 1 VI & 10 VI Leaks Hint at Larger Camera Modules

A new leak regarding the Sony Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI suggests that these upcoming smartphones will boast larger camera modules compared to their predecessors. The unveiling of the Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI is set to take place at the Xperia Launch Event scheduled for May 17. Recently, tempered glass lens protectors designed for these models surfaced on the Rakuten Market in Japan, hinting at the presence of these larger camera modules.

Enhanced Camera Modules

Both the lens protectors for the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI are noticeably larger than those found on their predecessors. These protectors also showcase wider apertures, indicating the possibility of accommodating larger camera sensors. Specifically, the lens protector for the Xperia 1 VI measures 1.5 x 5.2cm, while that for the Xperia 10 VI measures 1.6 x 3.3cm. These dimensions represent a significant increase in size over the previous models. However, it remains uncertain whether these modifications are purely aesthetic or if they entail hardware upgrades.

Upgraded Camera Specifications

Rumors surrounding the Sony Xperia 1 VI suggest that it will retain the same camera sensor as its forerunner, the Xperia V. The device is expected to feature a 24mm 48MP primary camera, a 16mm 12MP ultrawide camera, and an 85-125mm 12MP telephoto lens. Additionally, the new smartphone will introduce software enhancements to its camera system. Leaked renders of the Xperia 1 VI reveal a design similar to that of the Xperia 1 V, featuring a 6.5-inch tall screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and up to 16GB of RAM, the Xperia 1 VI is poised to offer high performance. As the launch date of May 17 approaches, further details regarding these new Sony Xperia smartphones are expected to surface.
