Sharp recently introduced a new addition to its Aquos series with the launch of the Aquos R9, succeeding last year's R8 model. This latest smartphone has been unveiled on Sharp's official website in Japan, boasting upgraded features such as a higher refresh rate display, Leica cameras, and a mid-range Snapdragon processor.
Sharp Aquos R9 Specifications and Features
The Aquos R9 showcases a Pro-IGZO OLED display spanning 6.5 inches with an FHD+ resolution. Notably, it boasts a high LTPO variable refresh rate of 240Hz and a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, supporting Dolby Vision technology. The device is equipped with the largest stereo speaker box in the Aquos phone lineup, complemented by Dolby Atmos support.
Design and Security Features
Featuring a boxy design with a flat frame, the Aquos R9 houses a side-mounted fingerprint scanner within the power button. The rear panel sports a circular camera island. Moreover, the smartphone holds military-grade certifications such as MIL-STD 810G and IPX5, IPX8, and IP6X ratings for dust and water resistance.
Camera and Performance
The Aquos R9 is equipped with a dual-camera setup bearing the Leica brand. It comprises a 50.3MP OIS-enabled main sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a 50.3MP ultra-wide-angle lens at f/2.2 with a 122-degree field of view. Additionally, the device features a high-resolution 50.3MP front-facing selfie camera. Powering the Aquos R9 is a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 processor, coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB of storage. The smartphone also includes a heat dissipation system and is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery, with Android 14 OS pre-installed. Connectivity options encompass WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.4.
Sharp has not disclosed the pricing details for the Aquos R9 yet, offering it in White and Green color variants.
