While Huawei's newly introduced Mate XT dual-hinge folding smartphone is currently making waves, reports suggest that Samsung is preparing to surpass its Chinese competitor in 2025. The South Korean tech giant has been rumored to be developing a smartphone with a rollable display, which may soon become a reality.
Impressive Specifications
According to The Elec, this anticipated rollable smartphone is expected to feature a 12.4-inch screen, which is remarkably close to the size of a laptop. In comparison, the Mate XT offers a 10.2-inch display when fully opened. Samsung's recently launched Z Fold6, available for $1,499 on Amazon, has a 7.6-inch screen, making it significantly smaller than the rumored rollable device.
Additionally, the upcoming smartphone is rumored to include an under-display camera, as noted by The Elec. If these reports hold true, Samsung's rollable smartphone would be the first of its kind available to consumers, provided no other company beats them to the punch.
Samsung's Innovation Continues
Samsung has been a pioneer in making folding smartphones mainstream, so it would not be surprising if the company achieves a similar feat with a rollable display model. Meanwhile, Apple's rival offering in the foldable market is not expected to launch until at least 2026, giving Samsung a head start in this innovative space.
