The Samsung Premiere 8K projector has recently gained recognition as the first projector to receive certification from the 8K Association (8KA). This association, which includes well-known names such as Google, Hisense, Panasonic, TCL, and Samsung, introduced the certification program for projectors in December.
Certification Requirements
For a projector to be certified, it needs to prove its capability of achieving an 8K resolution of 7,680 x 4,320 pixels. Additionally, it must meet specific standards for brightness, contrast, and wide color gamut coverage. The certification process also evaluates the projector's 8K upscaling technology, audio system quality, and support for high dynamic range (HDR).
Features and Debut
The Premiere 8K projector, labeled by Samsung as its "flagship premium" model, was first unveiled at CES 2023 and showcased again at CES 2024. This DLP projector utilizes a triple laser light source that can deliver brightness of up to 4,500 ISO lumens. Thanks to its ultra-short throw (UST) ratio, it can project a stunning 150-inch (~381 cm) image when positioned just 12 inches (~30 cm) away from a wall or screen. Additional features include integrated 8.2.2 channel speakers with Dolby Atmos support and connectivity through Wi-Fi 7.
Availability and Pricing
As of now, the exact launch date and price of the Samsung Premiere 8K projector remain unknown. However, the Samsung LSP9T Premiere 130" UST Triple Laser Projector is currently listed on Amazon US for $5,497.99.
