Samsung is gearing up for the upcoming launch of the Galaxy S25 series, with the Unpacked event expected to take place on January 22, 2025. There are mixed signals about what to expect, but the company could unveil four new devices during this event. This means there might be an exciting new model in addition to the usual trio of S-series phones.
New Model Insights
The rumored new model is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, which, as the name implies, is anticipated to be sleeker than the standard variant. Yet, earlier reports have not indicated how much slimmer the device might be. Fortunately, Ice Universe, a well-known source for leaks, has provided some clarity on this matter.
According to the leaker on Weibo, the Galaxy S25 Slim could measure around 6.X mm in thickness. This would make it significantly more slender compared to the standard S24 (256 GB currently priced at $759 on Amazon), which is 7.6 mm thick. In addition, Apple is supposedly developing a rival device known as the iPhone 17 Air, which is rumored to be about 6 mm in thickness.
Comparison with Competitors
Currently, it appears that while the Galaxy S25 Slim may not surpass the iPhone 17 Air in slimness, it could certainly be thinner than most Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship models. However, such a thin design might come with certain trade-offs.
For instance, there could be reductions in the rear camera system, battery capacity, and cooling features. On a positive note, Samsung might implement ALoP technology to minimize the camera bump's thickness and size.
