Apple is reportedly enhancing its supply chain to introduce variable aperture cameras in the next generation of iPhones, according to recent speculation.
Improved Camera Capabilities
The upcoming device, expected to be called the 18 Pro and/or Pro Max, could offer better control over depth of field. However, it seems like Apple will only be catching up to competitors like Honor’s Magic7 RSR at this stage of the game.
New Telephoto Lens Features
The "18 Pro series" may also come equipped with a sophisticated telephoto lens to complement the new camera capabilities. Reputable leaker Digital Chat Station has suggested that this lens will be based on innovative technology.
Advanced Zoom Technology
This camera module could feature a highly advanced "multi-fold" type of periscope zoom, unlike the newer all-on-prism lens (ALoP) that’s associated with the anticipated Galaxy S25 Slim.
Apple’s 2026 iPhones might offer significant improvements over the current 16 Pro series, which is priced at $1,024.97 in Renewed condition on Amazon. However, they may still not be as advanced as certain older Samsung models.
Future Developments
The tech giant from Cupertino might also be working on its first variable-aperture iPhone, in tandem with its rumored first foldable device and small Dynamic Island displays.
