Samsung Galaxy S25 Launching with Minimum 12 GB RAM

Samsung Galaxy S25 Launching with Minimum 12 GB RAM

With the upcoming launch of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra on January 22, several Geekbench listings for the devices have appeared. A consistent detail in these listings is that each model will feature a minimum of 12 GB of RAM. Well-known leaker Abhishek Yadav mentions that Samsung will finally phase out the 8 GB versions this time around.

Upgraded Storage Options

Yadav also highlights that storage will be increased to 256 GB for all three Galaxy S25 models, which is a significant and needed improvement for a phone expected to last through seven upgrade cycles. Although it would be great to see a 1 TB option for all models, there is currently no indication that this will be made available. Whether this change will lead to a price hike is still uncertain. However, a recent leak indicates that this might not be a concern.

RAM Increase Motivated by AI Needs

Samsung's move to increase RAM in the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra isn’t purely for user benefit. Galaxy AI, similar to other AI applications, is known to consume a lot of memory. While 8 GB might be adequate now, it's uncertain if that will hold true in the next year or two. Apple faced challenges with this issue and responded by upgrading the RAM on all its laptops and tablets, including older models.
