Amid speculation about Samsung's upcoming "Special Edition" Galaxy Z Fold, the company has made an official announcement regarding its release date.
Release Date Announcement
Samsung revealed today that it plans to showcase a new Galaxy device on October 21. While they haven't confirmed which device will be unveiled, many believe it is likely the much-anticipated Special Edition Fold. A recent report from September offered a glimpse at the phone's design, showing a redesigned camera module in a rectangular shape, a change from the standard Z Fold 6’s pill-like design.
Design and Features Leaked
Evan Blass, a well-known source for tech leaks, also recently shared a close-up of the camera design, which features a luxurious rose gold frame with a textured surface for better handling.
Exciting Upgrades Expected
In addition to the visual changes, there are rumors of major enhancements under the hood. While details are still scarce, it is believed that the camera system of the Special Edition Fold will undergo a significant upgrade. Another possible improvement could be the hinge design, with tipster Ice Universe indicating that the crease on the display will be less pronounced compared to the standard Z Fold 6. If this is accurate, it would be a significant step forward since earlier models didn’t show much improvement in this area.
The inner display when unfolded is expected to measure 8 inches, an increase from the Z Fold 6’s 7.6 inches. The outer display is also likely to expand from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches.
Availability Concerns
Nevertheless, acquiring the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition might prove challenging. Reports suggest that its release will be limited, primarily available in Korea and China.
All the details will be unveiled at Samsung's event on October 21, where the full features and specifications of the device are expected to be confirmed.
