Redmi Pad SE 4G: Best Budget Tablet at Rs 10,999?

Xiaomi has just released several new tablet models in India, introducing the Redmi Pad Pro series as mid-range options for those seeking good specifications without a hefty price tag. Alongside these, the company also launched the Redmi Pad SE 4G, a more budget-friendly option targeting a unique market segment.

Redmi Pad SE 4G: What Makes It Stand Out?

Earlier today (29th July 2024), the Chinese brand revealed the Redmi Pad SE 4G. While most tablets today feature larger displays, the Pad SE 4G comes with a more modest 8.7-inch screen. It offers an HD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, and can reach up to 600 nits of peak brightness. Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage.

A substantial 6,650mAh battery keeps the tablet running, with support for standard 10W charging. Camera-wise, it has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Noteworthy features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos support, and an IP53 rating for water and dust resistance. All of these features come at a starting price of 10,999 INR, making it an appealing budget option.

Target Audience

Priced affordably, the Redmi Pad SE 4G is ideal for those on a tight budget who still need a new tablet. It includes 4G-enabled dual SIM slots, allowing for calls and mobile data access, effectively making it an entry-level computing device as well. This makes it a suitable choice for students and children. The attractive price point, combined with its capable hardware, makes it a worthwhile purchase for this demographic.

Comparing the Competition

Xiaomi’s Redmi Pad SE 4G stands out because it has little competition at this price level. The nearest rival is Lenovo’s two-year-old Tab M10 Plus. This Lenovo tablet offers a larger 10.61-inch 2K display but is slightly more expensive, priced around 14,499 INR.

The Lenovo tablet is powered by a slightly slower Helio G80 chipset. While it does have a larger battery, the Redmi Pad SE 4G, priced at 10,999 INR, offers calling and mobile data support on its base model. Being a newer release, it also promises longer software support.
