The CEO of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, has recently announced that a new version of the Redmi Pad Pro with 5G capabilities is in development. True to its name, this model will feature 5G connectivity, unlike the standard Pad Pro, which relies on Wi-Fi. This forthcoming tablet has now appeared on a significant Chinese certification site, indicating that its release is close at hand.
Redmi Pad Pro 5G China Launch Nears
The Redmi Pad Pro 5G has been spotted in the TENAA database under the model number 24074RPD2C. According to Lei Jun, the new tablet will necessitate a physical SIM card for 5G connectivity and will not support e-SIM technology. Additionally, the device will offer dual SIM capabilities as well as GPS, AGPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, and WLAN.
The TENAA certification also revealed that the Redmi Pad Pro 5G will house a 4,900mAh battery. Given that the regular Redmi Pad Pro is equipped with a 10,000mAh battery, it's likely that the 5G variant will feature a similar battery capacity. Besides the addition of 5G, the new version is expected to retain the same specifications as the original. To recap, the Redmi Pad Pro features a 12.1-inch 2.5K LCD display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 180Hz touch sampling rate.

Internally, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Other notable features include 33W wired fast charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, an infrared sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, and quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
