Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi-MediaTek Joint Laboratory in Shenzhen, China. The lab will concentrate on five core capabilities and three primary technical areas: performance, communication, and AI. The collaboration aims to delve into fundamental technologies to produce top-notch products. The initial flagship product from this partnership is the Redmi K70 Extreme Edition (also known as Redmi K70 Ultra).
Xiaomi shared that in the past three years, over 18.6 million units of Redmi Dimensity flagship platform mobile phones have been sold. Additionally, the Xiaomi Group has shipped a total of 680 million products using the MediaTek platform.
Xiaomi-MediaTek partnership before Redmi K70 Ultra release
Regarding the Redmi K70 Ultra, it will feature MediaTek’s latest high-end chipset, the Dimensity 9300 Plus. Reports suggest that this device will compete with three Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones, including the OnePlus Ace 3, Realme GT 6, and iQOO Neo 9S Pro+. While the OnePlus phone is already available, the Realme and iQOO smartphones are expected to launch on July 9 and July 11, respectively, in China.
Redmi K70 Ultra Specifications (Rumored)
The Redmi K70 Ultra is anticipated to include the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. It's rumored that the highest variant will offer 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The device is also expected to have a dedicated graphics engine aimed at enhancing the gaming experience.
The K70 Ultra will come with a 5,500mAh battery supporting 120W fast charging. The brand has confirmed that the device will be IP68-rated, making it dustproof and water-resistant. Moreover, it is likely to feature a metal middle frame.
Launch Timeline
As for its release, the Redmi K70 Ultra is expected to launch by mid-July in China. However, the brand has not yet disclosed the design of the smartphone.
