After the unveiling of the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ in early January, the basic version is now making its debut. The Realme 16’s design seems to take cues from the Apple iPhone Air, and Realme openly acknowledges this – the smartphone is even marketed as featuring an “Air design,” though it isn’t particularly thin at 8.1 millimeters.

Camera Features

The rear of the device includes a pill-shaped camera module that appears to contain three cameras, yet two of these, equipped with 2 MP sensors, serve more as decoration than anything else. The main camera, which offers 50 MP f/1.8, can also double for selfies thanks to a mirror, a feature that seems to be inspired by instant cameras. Additionally, there’s a 50 MP f/2.4 front camera available. The Realme 16’s body is IP69 certified, making it resistant to water.

Display and Performance

Under the hood, a robust 7,000 mAh battery can be charged through USB-C with a maximum of 60 watts. The device features a 6.57-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,372 x 1,080, boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak HDR brightness of 4,200 nits, while the overall brightness can reach up to 1,400 nits. A MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo processor powers the device, which includes two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, ensuring strong performance.

Pricing and Availability

The Realme 16 will first be available in Vietnam, where the base model is priced at 11,490,000 VND (around $440) for the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage version. The model with 12 GB of RAM will be priced at 12,490,000 VND (approximately $475). As of now, Realme has not announced any specifics regarding an international release.
