Qualcomm has officially announced that its Snapdragon Summit 2024 is scheduled to be held from October 24th to 26th in Maui, Hawaii.
Snapdragon Summit is an annual event primarily used to introduce the company’s latest flagship mobile processor, and this year is expected to follow suit. The highlight of the event will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Features
The SoC will be manufactured by TSMC on a 3nm node and will incorporate custom Oryon CPU cores. Unlike the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s 1 + 3 + 4 configuration, this chip will reportedly have a 2 + 6 design with no efficiency cores.
The two high-performance cores are said to reach a peak clock speed of 4GHz and reportedly achieve over 3,000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core tests on Geekbench.
Additionally, Qualcomm is expected to adopt an enhanced GPU architecture featuring improved cache and memory compression technology for better performance.
Performance and Compatibility
Leaks indicate that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can run Genshin Impact smoothly for 45 minutes while maintaining a stable frame rate, an impressive feat given the game's high demands.
Xiaomi is anticipated to reveal the Xiaomi 15 series shortly after the event, potentially making it the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
OnePlus and iQOO are also rumored to be preparing their OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13 lines, respectively, powered by the new Qualcomm chip.
Future Integrations
Samsung is expected to equip its Galaxy S25 series with the new SoC. As usual, it is likely to be an overclocked version of the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, debuting under the Made for Galaxy tag.
While the Snapdragon Summit will undoubtedly offer more insights into the upcoming chipset, for now, we wait to see how Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship mobile processor will evolve.
