Possible Specs of Apple iPhone 16 Pro: Enhanced Telephoto Camera with 120mm Tetraprism

Apple iPhone 16 Pro to Feature Tetraprism 120mm Camera

According to the latest report, the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to come with a significant improvement in its photography capabilities. The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to introduce a camera lens technology that was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reveals that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature Apple's tetraprism 120mm telephoto shooter. This camera lens technology is made possible by the improvements in yields for Largan, the sole supplier of the tetraprism camera lenses. Initially, the periscope lens faced challenges with low production yields. However, recent improvements have boosted the yields to over 70 percent, making the production of this camera lens more profitable.

Kuo believes that Apple will incorporate the tetraprism technology in the smaller Pro model as well in 2024. This aligns with our previous report that hinted at camera technology upgrades, thanks to the adoption of molded glass lenses.

Apple and Huawei Leading the Periscope Camera Market

In addition to Apple, Huawei is projected to be one of the fastest-growing brands in terms of global periscope camera smartphone shipments in 2024, according to the analyst. Largan is expected to be the primary supplier of periscope lenses for both Apple and Huawei. Therefore, it is highly likely that the improved camera technology will also make its way to the Huawei P70 series.

Huawei's P series is renowned for its flagship devices that prioritize photography. With Largan's involvement as the primary periscope lens supplier, we can anticipate enhanced camera capabilities in the Huawei P70 series as well.

Overall, the iPhone 16 Pro's rumored inclusion of the tetraprism 120mm camera and the advancements in camera technology are exciting prospects for photography enthusiasts. As Apple and Huawei continue to push the boundaries of smartphone photography, consumers can look forward to capturing even more stunning moments with their devices.
