Oppo's recently launched Find X7 series in China has already led to rumors about the Find X8 series. The latest buzz suggests a major shift from Qualcomm processors, with both models in the Find X8 lineup expected to feature MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset.
New Chipset Speculations
The source of this information is Weibo tipster Smart Pikachu, who alleges that both models of the Find X8 will utilize the Dimensity 9400 chipset. Although no specific models were named, considering the Find X7 series includes the base X7 and the high-end X7 Ultra, it is likely that Smart Pikachu is referring to the Find X8 and X8 Ultra.
However, this speculation contrasts with an earlier leak from the more reputable Digital Chat Station (DCS). While DCS didn’t provide details on the system on a chip (SoC), they hinted at three models for the Find X8 series: possibly the Find X8, X8 Pro, and X8 Ultra.
Conflicting Reports
These differing reports highlight the current uncertainty surrounding the Find X8 phones. Given that the launch is probably months away, significant changes in details can still occur.
Regardless of whether Oppo chooses the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, both chipsets promise impressive performance. DCS even suggested that the Dimensity 9400 might outperform the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Apple’s A17 Pro in terms of instructions per clock (IPC).
Performance Expectations
Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is anticipated to feature in-house Oryon CPU cores for notable performance improvements.
Oppo may select either chipset to guarantee top-tier performance in its flagship devices, but the final decision remains unclear. We will keep you updated as more information about the Find X8 series emerges.
