MediaTek is known for releasing two top-tier mobile system-on-chips (SoCs) every year. Back in October, they unveiled the Dimensity 9400 SoC. Now, we are anticipating an upgraded version, possibly named Dimensity 9400+, to be launched later this year.
Expected Launch Details
According to the trustworthy source Digital Chat Station (DCS), the Dimensity 9400+ will maintain the same ARM Cortex-X925 prime core as its predecessor, the 9400. However, there is an expected increase in clock speed from 3.62 GHz to 3.7 GHz. DCS indicates that the new processor is set to be released in March, with two smartphone manufacturers reportedly gearing up to unveil their initial devices using this chip.
Potential Device Releases
One of the devices expected to feature this new SoC is the Vivo X200s. Previous reports have suggested that this smartphone will indeed incorporate the same chip. This strategy fits well with Vivo’s past practices, as its earlier model, the X100s, was powered by the Dimensity 9300+ processor. The second smartphone that might utilize this chip could be the Oppo Find X8S, based on recent leaks.
Anticipated Specifications
Generally, there isn’t much divergence between the standard and Plus versions of MediaTek’s flagship processors. Thus, it’s likely that the Dimensity 9400+ will follow the same trend. If so, here are the expected specs:
– CPU structure: 1 Arm Cortex-X925 at 3.7 GHz, 3 Arm Cortex-X4 (1MB L2 cache), 4 Arm Cortex-A720 (512KB L2 cache)
– CPU architecture: 64-bit
– Process node: 4nm
– GPU: Arm Immortalis-G925 MC12
– GPU APIs: OpenGL ES 3.2, Vulkan 1.1, and OpenCL 2.0 FP
– Memory type: LPDDR5X
– Storage type: UFS 4.0
– AI processing unit: MediaTek NPU 890
– Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 3GPP Release-17 5G
– Navigation: GLONASS, NavIC, Beidou, GPS, QZSS, and Galileo
