Oppo Find N5 Specs Leak: New Design, Magnetic Charging & More

The excitement surrounding the Oppo Find N5 (and OnePlus Open 2) is quite significant, especially since Oppo opted not to release it this year. A leak from October indicated that it would debut in the first quarter of 2025, alongside the Find X8 Ultra. A recent report seems to confirm this timeline while offering additional technical insights into the next-generation Oppo foldable device.

Design Improvements

A Weibo user known as Smart Pikachu mentioned that the Oppo Find N5 is set to be the leading foldable smartphone for at least the first half of 2025. Reports suggest that Oppo has made the Find N5 both slimmer and lighter. For comparison, the Find N3 measures 5.8 mm in thickness when unfolded and 11.7 mm when folded, with a weight of 245 g (or 239 g for the leather-back version). The question remains whether the Find N5 can surpass the Honor Magic V3's impressive thickness of 4.4 mm when unfolded and 9.3 mm folded.

Enhanced Durability

The source also noted that the Find N5 will feature a sturdier frame. Coupled with earlier reports of enhanced ingress protection, this indicates a better overall build quality. Currently, the Find X3/OnePlus Open retails for $1,299.99 on Amazon and has an IPX4 splash-resistant rating, which falls short when compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6's IPX8 water resistance.

Wireless Charging Capabilities

Another exciting feature highlighted by the leaker is the inclusion of support for Oppo's magnetic wireless charging ecosystem, similar to that of the Find X8 series. Additionally, it will be compatible with Apple’s MagSafe accessories. This is particularly noteworthy as the Find N3 lacks wireless charging capabilities. Finally, it's confirmed that the upcoming foldable will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Most of the features mentioned for the Find N5 are likely to be included in the OnePlus Open 2, which is expected to be a rebranded or international variant of the Find N5, according to Smart Pikachu on Weibo.
