But this isn’t the only mobile SoC the company revealed at the Qualcomm Summit 2025.
New Snapdragon 8 Gen 5
The basic Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 was also unveiled, and OnePlus has teased a device that will utilize it. Qualcomm explained at the Chinese Summit that the non-Elite version ranks below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 but comes equipped with Oryon cores.
Performance Details
Qualcomm also mentioned that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will have Oryon Prime cores running at 3.8 GHz and Performance cores clocked at 3.32 GHz. In contrast, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has its Prime cores at a higher speed of 4.6 GHz and its Performance cores at 3.62 GHz.
There are still some details about the core setup and GPU of the non-Elite version, but recent leaks hint that it could come with the Adreno 835 GPU. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is equipped with the Adreno 840, whereas the standard 8 Elite includes the Adreno 830.
Upcoming Devices
So far, Qualcomm has confirmed that the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will be the power behind new smartphones from brands like Vivo, iQOO, Motorola, Meizu, and OnePlus. However, it appears that OnePlus may be the first to release a flagship phone featuring the non-Elite SoC.
Interestingly, Li Jie Louis, the President of OnePlus, stated that this phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will be launched worldwide. This indicates that the device could likely be the OnePlus 15R for the global market, which is expected to be a more budget-friendly flagship option compared to the OnePlus 15, currently priced at $549.99 on Amazon for the 256 GB model.
