Zhou Yibao, who leads the Oppo Find series, has given a hint about the Find N5, which is likely to be known as the OnePlus Open 2 in markets outside of China. While the Oppo representative did not provide any concrete information regarding the foldable device, a trustworthy source, Digital Chat Station, has disclosed some potential specifications.
Performance Specs
As anticipated, the OnePlus Open 2 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. According to Digital Chat Station, it might be the sole foldable phone featuring this advanced Qualcomm chipset in the first half of 2025. The source further claims that the new model will be lighter and slimmer than its predecessor, while also being more robust, which aligns with previous reports about upcoming foldable devices.
New Features
Another significant feature of the foldable phone, according to Digital Chat Station, will be the inclusion of wireless charging. For those who may not know, the first generation OnePlus Open lacks this capability, and with the addition of wireless charging, the new foldable will have a better chance of competing with the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (currently, the 256 GB Z Fold 6 retails for $1,349 on Amazon).
Enhancements Over Previous Model
The report from Digital Chat Station also indicates that the OnePlus Open 2 will boast an IPX8 water resistance rating. This would represent a substantial upgrade from the previous model, which had an IPX4 rating. Although the leaker did not provide extensive details about the camera, it was noted that the foldable will include a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens, which was absent in the last version.
Looking ahead to the launch, the Oppo Find N5 is anticipated to officially debut in China during the first quarter of 2025. The global release as the Open 2 is expected to follow shortly after the Chinese unveiling.
