The Oppo Find N5 is set to be introduced in February, and it might be rebranded as the OnePlus Open 2 in certain markets. Before the official announcement, the company has been hinting at the sleek design of the new foldable device. A recent teaser image indicates that it could be even slimmer than the Honor Magic V3.
A Closer Look at the Design
Zhou Yibao, Oppo’s product manager, has shared an additional preview showcasing the slimness of the foldable gadget. In a video, he compares its thickness using various common items. Zhou starts with four Chinese ID cards, moves on to two 1 CNY coins, and finally stacks 39 sticky notes.
These comparisons suggest an approximate thickness of around 4 mm, which would position the upcoming OnePlus Open 2 as the thinnest foldable smartphone available. For perspective, the Honor Magic V3, which previously held this title, measures 4.3 mm when unfolded.
More on Specifications
While Zhou has provided a hint regarding the phone’s thickness, he did not reveal the entire device. A part of the Find N5 was shown, but the rest was concealed with paper. However, recent leaks indicate that it may feature a camera island similar to the OnePlus 13, which was just launched.
This implies that the OnePlus Open 2 may include a three-camera arrangement on the back, just like its predecessor. A Chinese tipster known as Experience More mentioned that the camera island would have a slight bulge from the body, giving the foldable phone a very sleek appearance on both sides.
