OnePlus Ace 5 Series: Next Compact Powerhouse After Vivo

OnePlus Ace 5 Series: Next Compact Powerhouse After Vivo

After the introduction of the OnePlus 13 in China, the company is shifting its attention to the upcoming Ace 5 series, with the base model likely to be rebranded as the OnePlus 13R for international markets. As per a tipster on Weibo named Digital Chat Station, there is also a smaller Ace series device being developed, which is anticipated to debut in the second quarter of next year.

More Compact Models on the Horizon

To provide some context, the current Ace 3 series consists of three devices: the OnePlus Ace 3 (released in January), Ace 3V (released in March), and Ace 3 Pro (released in June). Among these, the Ace 3V has a slightly smaller 6.74-inch screen and is powered by a less robust chipset, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, when compared to the other models. While the tipster did not reveal the name of the new compact model, it might be called the OnePlus Ace 5V or another fresh addition to the Ace series lineup.

The Competitive Compact Phone Market

The market for compact phones is getting more competitive, especially with Vivo stepping into the arena to compete against the base flagships from Samsung and Xiaomi. In addition, there are rumors that Oppo is also working on a compact flagship under the Find X8 series.

Although the tipster hasn’t shared the screen size for the upcoming compact device from OnePlus, one can draw comparisons with existing models. For example, the Vivo X200 Pro mini has a 6.31" display, while the Xiaomi 15, which we have reviewed, features a slightly larger 6.36" screen. Both devices offer 1.5K resolution displays and have a pixel density of roughly 460 PPI, which could act as a standard for what OnePlus aims to achieve.

Specifications Still Under Wraps

There is no word yet on the chipset and other details for the compact Ace device. However, the Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro are said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite processors, respectively, following the path of their predecessors. The Ace 5 is projected to launch in China this December.
