OnePlus 13R Won’t Get Battery Upgrade from Chinese Version

OnePlus has recently unveiled the Ace 5 series in China, including a standard model and a Pro version. The regular model is anticipated to be rebranded as the OnePlus 13R for the international market. However, it appears that the specifications may not align perfectly between these two versions.

Previous Comparisons

Looking back at the OnePlus 12R, it had nearly identical specifications to the Ace 3. Given this history, one might naturally expect that the new budget-friendly sub-flagship would mirror its Chinese counterpart’s specs. Yet, it appears that this time, differences are likely to occur.

Battery Specifications

According to the official site, the OnePlus 13R will feature a 6,000 mAh battery, similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship set to launch globally on January 7th. In contrast, the Ace 5 in China boasts a larger 6,400 mAh battery, which is a significant improvement over the previous model (Iniu 10,000 mAh power bank currently priced at $20.96 on Amazon).

This higher capacity of 6,400 mAh positions the OnePlus Ace 5 as the device with the biggest battery in the company's lineup. This isn't the first instance where an international model has a smaller battery compared to its Chinese version. For instance, the Realme GT 7 Pro was introduced in China with a 6,500 mAh battery, but the Indian model came with a reduced 5,800 mAh battery. Variations in battery size often occur to meet regional regulations. However, since the OnePlus 13R shares its promotional webpage with the OnePlus 13, it’s possible that the company overlooked updating the battery specification for the 13R.
