The One-Netbook OneGx 2 has been hinted at as a new hybrid between a mini laptop and a gaming handheld. While the company has displayed its design and removable keyboard, specific specifications have not been disclosed. A well-known tipster, @RealVictor_M on X, has now indicated that the device will be equipped with a high-performance AMD APU.
Powering the Device
According to the tipster, the OneGx 2 will feature the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. This is the same APU found in the GPD Pocket 4; however, GPD’s model is not primarily aimed at gamers. Instead, GPD is more focused on users who want to work efficiently while still enjoying the benefits of a portable gaming device (Legion Go currently priced at $472.97 on Amazon).
A Major Upgrade
If One-Netbook indeed equips the OneGx 2 with the advanced AMD Strix Point APU, it would represent a significant improvement over its predecessor. The first-generation device was launched with the Intel Core i5 10210Y, an Amber Lake-Y processor that included a basic UHD Graphics 615 iGPU.
Our benchmarks show that this iGPU had a performance rating that fell between the AMD Radeon HD 8550G and the Nvidia GeForce GT 720M. This indicates that the OneGx 1 struggles to run any modern games effectively. In contrast, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 is equipped with the Radeon 890M iGPU.
Enhanced Gaming Capabilities
This modern RDNA 3.5 iGPU performs between the Nvidia GTX 1650 Mobile and the GTX 980M according to our benchmarks. Our gaming tests indicate that it can handle most modern AAA games smoothly at 1080p with medium settings.
However, since the initial device used an Intel processor, there is still a chance that One-Netbook might choose a Lunar Lake chip for the OneGx 2. No matter what powers this upcoming gaming handheld hybrid, its distinctive design and compact size will put it up against the upcoming GPD Win Mini, which is also expected to feature an AMD Strix Point APU.
