We are just a few weeks away from the Consumer Electronics Show 2024 (CES) in Las Vegas. Yesterday, Taiwanese brand ASUS announced a ROG event a day before the annual tech event commences on January 9. The company could launch multiple laptops as well as the next-generation ROG Phone 8 series at the event. In fact, the latter is also confirmed to launch in China on January 16. Now, ahead of the launch event, we have got a clear look which also seems to be official at the forthcoming gaming smartphones.
ASUS ROG Phone 8 surfaces in official image
ASUS has released an official image of the upcoming ROG Phone 8, giving us a glimpse at the design of the device. The image confirms a redesigned camera module and showcases the back panel of the smartphone.
Redesigned camera module and back panel
The initial teaser of the ROG Phone 8 provided a slight glimpse of the device and confirmed a redesigned camera module. ASUS has now posted a blind camera test on its official website, asking visitors to select the best-looking photo in various scenarios. Upon completing the test, the page reveals the ROG Phone 8, giving us a better look at the design of the back panel.
The ASUS ROG Phone 8 sports a boxy frame, distinguishing it from its predecessor’s slim profile. The back panel features a dual-tone design with a lighter and darker shade of the same color variant (Grey and Black). The device also has a protruding squarish camera module on the right edge, housing one large sensor, two smaller lenses, and an LED flash unit. The bottom part of the device showcases the ROG’s RGB logo.
Additional features and specifications
In addition to the design elements, the image also reveals a few other features of the ROG Phone 8. The smartphone curves around the edges and a USB-C port is visible on the left edge of the device. The camera test also mentions “telephoto (x3)” and “telephoto (x10)” categories, indicating the presence of a telephoto camera in the ROG Phone 8 series.

The ASUS ROG Phone 8 is already confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. This powerful processor is expected to deliver a smooth and lag-free gaming experience.
