HMD Global is developing a new smartphone named the HMD Skyline. Earlier this month, renders of this upcoming device were leaked, showcasing a design reminiscent of the Nokia Lumia 920. Recently, the phone appeared on Geekbench, unveiling more information about its internal components.
Hardware Specifications
According to the Geekbench listing, the smartphone features a motherboard codenamed “Tomcat.” It comes with 8GB of RAM and an octa-core processor—four cores running at 1.96GHz and the other four at 2.40GHz. These details suggest that the processor is likely the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.
Software and Performance
The listing also indicates that the device will launch with Android 14. In terms of performance, the HMD Skyline scores 1027 points on Geekbench’s single-core test and 2857 points on the multi-core test. While the listing doesn't offer further specifics, earlier leaks have provided additional insights.
Display and Camera
Previous reports indicate that the HMD Skyline will sport an FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. It is expected to feature a 108MP main camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a third lens, which could be either a macro or a depth sensor. For selfies, a 32MP front camera is anticipated.
Additional Features
The device is rumored to be powered by a 4,900mAh battery with 33W fast charging capability. Additional features include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and IP67 water and dust resistance. Although pricing details are not confirmed, speculation suggests the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant could be priced around €520. The HMD Skyline is expected to launch sometime in July.
