Apple has recently begun selling the iPhone 16 series, which launched last month along with the Watch Series 10 (current price: $389.99 on Amazon). Despite this, many sources are already speculating about the upcoming iPhones, which may signal a change from the recent models.
Future iPhone Models
In short, Apple is likely to introduce successors for all current iPhones except for the iPhone 16 Plus. This model might be replaced by a smaller variant, possibly named the iPhone 17 Air or iPhone 17 Slim. Notably, well-known Apple analyst Jeff Pu has shared preliminary details about this new model, as well as the higher-end iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Expected Specifications
According to reports, Apple has yet to finalize the name for the slimmer iPhone 17. Nevertheless, Pu suggests the company intends to feature a 6.6-inch display, 8 GB of RAM, and an Apple A19 chipset manufactured on 3 nm TSMC nodes. Therefore, while this device will comply with Apple's standards for intelligence, it will be classified as a mid-range option within the iPhone 17 lineup.
Enhanced Camera Features
On a different note, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to come equipped with new 48 MP telephoto cameras, maintaining a maximum optical zoom of 5x. Additionally, Pu posits that Apple aims to highlight a new 24 MP front-facing camera in both models.
Further, these devices are believed to feature an Apple A19 Pro chipset alongside 12 GB of RAM, which would be unprecedented for any iPhone. However, only the iPhone 17 Pro Max is rumored to have a slimmer version of the Dynamic Island. This change may be achieved by switching Face ID from traditional lenses to meta-lenses; however, no further details have been disclosed regarding this technology.
