At the close of the previous year, 8BitDo hinted at a new wireless game controller. From the single image released, it looked similar to the Ultimate 2 Wireless (currently priced at $59.99 on Amazon), but it didn’t have a name at that time. Instead, 8BitDo mentioned that the ‘Pro’ controller would be revealed at CES 2026.
Unveiling the Ultimate 3E
Now, the company has disclosed that the secret controller is called the Ultimate 3E. This controller is made for Xbox and PC, and it also works with Apple and Android devices, along with the older Xbox One. In essence, the Ultimate 3E includes several features from its predecessor, the Ultimate 2 Wireless, like three shoulder buttons, TMR joysticks, two back buttons, and a built-in wireless charging dock.
Enhanced Features
Furthermore, 8BitDo has added RGB lighting, trigger switches, and 6-axis motion controls. Sadly, the motion controls are only available on PC. Additionally, the 1,000 Hz polling rate mentioned by 8BitDo is not usable on Xbox consoles. Nonetheless, the Ultimate 3E takes a leap forward by offering a broader grip angle for improved comfort.
Comfort and Customization
In addition, new silicone grips are designed to enhance comfort during long gaming sessions. Changes from the Ultimate 2 Wireless also include more in-depth customization options. As illustrated in the images above and below, the Ultimate 3E allows for interchangeable joysticks, d-pads, ABXY modules, and even a detachable front plate. 8BitDo hasn’t disclosed a price yet, but they’ve suggested that the product will launch sometime between April and late June 2026.
