Viture Unveils Stunning New 8BitDo Mobile Gaming Accessory

    Key Takeaways

    1. Viture and 8BitDo are collaborating on a unique mobile gaming accessory, set to launch in March.
    2. Full details about the device will be shared soon, and beta testers are being sought.
    3. The new device is a variation of 8BitDo’s Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller.
    4. The design includes a partially see-through style with orange highlights.
    5. The customized version is expected to retain the same hardware features as the original controller.

Viture has brought forth interesting news about its upcoming project with 8BitDo. To summarize, the two companies hinted at developing a unique mobile gaming accessory. Although they haven’t disclosed specific details yet, they mentioned that we can expect the official launch in March.

    Excitement Builds

With only a little time left in the month, there’s no indication of the much-anticipated device. Instead, Viture has announced that they will share ‘full details’ shortly. Additionally, the company stated in the same tweet that they will be looking for beta testers at the same time. This makes it seem unlikely that the collaboration between 8BitDo and Viture will hit the market anytime soon.

    Device Specifications

However, Viture has effectively let the cat out of the bag regarding the device—it is a variation of the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller that 8BitDo launched in October (currently priced at $49.99 on Amazon). From the brief video shown below, it appears that Viture’s model features a partially see-through design with orange highlights similar to the Viture X 8BitDo Ultimate C. It can be assumed that this customized version will keep the same basic hardware as 8BitDo’s original, which includes Hall effect joysticks, a 350 mAh battery, and compatibility with smartphones that can be up to 170 mm tall.

  • 8BitDo and Viture Preview Unique Mobile Gaming Accessory

8BitDo and Viture Preview Unique Mobile Gaming Accessory

There has been a constant stream of new products from 8BitDo recently. The company is now working again with Viture, which is well-known for its smart glasses like the Viture Pro XR (currently priced at $399 on Amazon). To give some background, their previous collaboration created the Viture X 8BitDo Ultimate C, a see-through version of the Ultimate C featuring an Xbox-style layout.

    Design and Features

The upcoming 8BitDo and Viture device will keep some design elements from last year’s joint effort, including orange joystick accents. Viture has indicated that this new product will be a “mobile gaming accessory,” which means it won’t be like some of the latest 8BitDo releases, including the Ultimate 2C.

    Upcoming Product Details

From what we can see, the device shown seems to be a modified Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller. This smartphone accessory has been available since late October and is priced at $49.99. It features Hall effect joysticks, plus it can provide up to 14 hours of gameplay with its 350 mAh battery. The telescopic controller can accommodate smartphones that are as tall as 170 mm, which is even larger than the impressive Nubia Z70 Ultra that we reviewed a few weeks back. The official launch of the next product from 8BitDo and Viture is set for March.

  • Attach 8BitDo Micro and Zero 2 Controllers to Your Smartphone

Attach 8BitDo Micro and Zero 2 Controllers to Your Smartphone

8BitDo has come out with two of their smallest controllers, the Micro and Zero 2, which can be used with both Android smartphones and iPhones. Previously, users had to keep their phones flat or propped up to play. However, 8BitDo has introduced a new clip that allows you to attach either controller directly to your smartphone.

    A Handy Accessory

The 8BitDo Micro/Zero 2 Mobile Clip is made up of three parts: one clamps onto the phone, while the remaining two serve as holders for the Micro and Zero 2 controllers. After selecting the controller and its holder, you can fix it to the clamping piece. This setup positions the controller on the bottom half of your screen.

    Ideal for Retro Gaming

This clip is particularly suitable for retro games that display on the top half of the screen, while the virtual controls sit beneath. The 8BitDo Micro/Zero 2 Mobile Clip is available for $9.99. If you don’t own the Micro or Zero 2 controller yet, you will need to purchase one for an additional cost of $24.99 for the Micro or $19.99 for the Zero 2.

  • 8BitDo Launches 2C Bluetooth Controller with Hall Effect Joysticks

8BitDo Launches 2C Bluetooth Controller with Hall Effect Joysticks

This year has seen a lot of activity from 8BitDo. For example, last month alone, the company announced four new products, one of which was to mark the 30th anniversary of the Sega Saturn. Nevertheless, 8BitDo is not done introducing new gadgets in 2024.

A New Take on the Ultimate 2C

The company has opted to refresh the Ultimate 2C, which was first revealed in June and features Bluetooth along with 2.4 GHz connection. Interestingly, 8BitDo also launched Black Myth: Wukong variants just a few months later. Now, they have rolled out the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth, which they claim is specifically tailored for the Nintendo Switch.

    Compatibility and Features

In reality, the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth should work with any device that accepts Bluetooth or wired USB controllers. Regardless, the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth comes equipped with Hall effect joysticks, 6-axis motion control, rumble features, and a 480 mAh battery that offers up to 15 hours of gameplay. Additionally, the controller allows for button remapping and has an additional pair of shoulder buttons.

    Pricing and Availability

It’s worth mentioning that the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth does not include 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity. However, its price remains the same as that of the standard Ultimate 2C. Currently, you can find the Ultimate 2C Bluetooth on Amazon for $29.99, available in Blue and Pink color choices. There should also be a darker blue variant released at a later time.

  • 8BitDo Teases Xbox-Themed Keyboard and Mouse Set Release

8BitDo Teases Xbox-Themed Keyboard and Mouse Set Release

While 2024 is coming to an end, 8BitDo appears to have more product launches lined up. This year has been quite fruitful for the company. To summarize, they updated the Retro Mechanical Keyboard at the start of 2024, then a few months later they released the Ultimate 2C, which is currently priced at $29.99 on Amazon.

    Continued Product Launches

Since then, 8BitDo has consistently unveiled new hardware almost every month, similar to what Anbernic does. In November alone, the company released a black version of its Nintendo 64 controller, an improved Retro Mechanical Keyboard, and two new products themed around the Sega Saturn. Now, they seem to be teasing yet another set of products on the horizon.

    Teasers and Speculations

Up until now, 8BitDo has shared two mysterious teasers along with images. From what we can observe, it looks like the photos depict two separate devices rather than just one. By brightening the images, it appears that 8BitDo might be working on an Xbox-themed keyboard and mouse combo, although this is just our guess. The good news is that 8BitDo plans to disclose more information about their upcoming products on November 28 at 16:00 UTC.
