MagicX has come back with news about a new gaming handheld after they launched the Zero 40 at the end of June. To give some background, the Zero 40 was released shortly after MagicX hinted at the One 35 and updated the Mini Zero 28 with a V2 version, which is currently priced at $69.99 on Amazon. Now, the company has shared some early images of a device called the Retro 45.

Speculation on the Retro 45

Although MagicX hasn’t officially announced the device yet, the information they have shared suggests that the Retro 45 is designed for gamers interested in playing titles from Dreamcast, Genesis (Mega Drive), Nintendo 64, and Sega Saturn.

It is still not known if ‘Retro 45’ will be the final name for this device. For example, MagicX initially introduced the Zero 40 as the Touch Zero 40, but later removed the ‘Touch’ part. Unfortunately, there are no specifications available for the Retro 45 at this time.

Rendered Details

Instead, MagicX has shared a few details through three renders posted on their Discord channel. The images display an eight-way d-pad located on the left side, right above a joystick that resembles the N64 style. Additionally, the Retro 45 features six action buttons that mimic the layout of a Sega Saturn, arranged as X Y Z A B C from the top to the bottom and from the right to the left. A set of triggers is also visible, along with a design that looks similar to the existing Zero 40. It remains uncertain when MagicX will provide further information about the Retro 45.
