Huawei Launches Nova Y62 Series in South Africa
Huawei has quietly introduced its latest mid-range smartphones, the Huawei Nova Y62 series, in South Africa. The lineup consists of two models, namely the Nova Y62 and the Nova Y62 Plus. Let’s take a closer look at the specifications, features, and pricing of both devices.
Specifications and Features
Both the Nova Y62 and Y62 Plus sport a 6.52-inch IPS LCD panel with an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Powering the smartphones is an undisclosed octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz.
The Nova Y62 comes with 4GB of RAM, while the Plus variant offers 8GB of RAM. Both devices provide 128GB of internal storage and a dedicated microSD card slot for expandable storage. They are equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 22.5W fast charging.
In terms of cameras, the Nova Y62 and Y62 Plus feature a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. On the rear, they boast a 50-megapixel main camera accompanied by a pair of 2-megapixel cameras for depth and macro shots.
Software and Connectivity
The Nova Y62 series runs on Android 12 with the EMUI 12 skin on top. While the devices come with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), they do not include Google Mobile Services. As for connectivity options, both phones support dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a USB-C port, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
Pricing and Availability
Although the exact pricing details for the Nova Y62 and Y62 Plus have not been disclosed, they will be available in two color options: Sapphire Blue and Midnight Black. The Nova Y62 series is primarily targeted at the South African market.
