Nubia is set to make its entry into the foldable smartphone market in 2024 with the launch of the Nubia Z60 Fold. This upcoming device is expected to be a horizontally foldable smartphone, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the OnePlus Open. However, it seems that Nubia has more than one foldable device up its sleeve.
According to a recent report from GSMChina, Nubia is also working on a vertically foldable device called the Nubia Flip 5G. This information was discovered in the GSMA IMEI database, where the name and model number (NX724J) of the Nubia Flip 5G were spotted. While this confirms the existence of Nubia's first flip-style foldable phone, there is no information available about its specifications or the expected launch date. It remains to be seen whether the Nubia Flip 5G will feature an under-display camera, a feature found in some of the brand's recent flagship smartphones.
Nubia is not the only brand planning to release vertically foldable smartphones in China in 2024. Xiaomi and Honor are also expected to join the foldable trend. The Xiaomi Mix Flip is rumored to come with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. On the other hand, details about the chipset of the Honor Magic Flip are still unknown. However, it is expected to feature a large 4,500mAh dual-cell battery, which would be the largest battery size in a flip-style foldable phone.
As for the launch dates, the Honor Magic Flip is anticipated to debut in the first quarter of 2024, while the Xiaomi Mix Flip may arrive in the second quarter of the year. Nubia, on the other hand, is expected to unveil its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Nubia Z60 Fold in the first quarter of 2024 as well. Unfortunately, there is currently no additional information available regarding the specifications of the Nubia Z60 Fold.
It seems that 2024 will be an exciting year for foldable smartphones, with multiple brands venturing into the market with their innovative designs. As more details emerge about these devices, tech enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting their release to see how they stack up against the competition.
