Honor is gearing up for its July 12 launch event, where it will introduce several new products. Among these, the Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 foldable phones are highly anticipated. These models are expected to bring various improvements over their predecessors. Here’s a rundown of what to expect from Honor’s upcoming foldable devices.
Honor Magic V3
Recent teasers have revealed the slim profile of the Magic V3. The Chinese company claims that this premium model boasts an ultra-thin and versatile folding design. Honor’s Magic V2 had already set a high bar for thin design with the Magic V3, but the company aims to push the envelope further. The V3 is expected to be even slimmer and lighter, with leaked images showcasing its body.
Although the exact dimensions haven't been disclosed, tipsters support Honor's claims. Both the Magic V and Magic Vs3 will feature a similar book-style folding screen. Teaser posters have also confirmed the color options for the Magic V3: Tundra Green, Qilian Snow, and Velvet Black. Additionally, there’s a brown variant with a faux leather back panel and a golden metallic border around its rear camera module.
Flagship Chip
Honor is maintaining the flagship status of the Magic V series by incorporating top-end hardware. To recap, the Magic V2 came with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Its successor, the Magic V3, will feature the more advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, ensuring not just premium looks but also high-end performance.
On the other hand, the Magic Vs3 will likely continue to be a more affordable option. In 2023, the Vs2 model was equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Honor is expected to stick with this strategy for this year’s foldable lineup, potentially using the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor for the Vs3. This chip is popular in flagship killer or budget flagship phones, offering excellent performance despite being a notch below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Camera, Satellite Connectivity, Battery, & More
Honor has confirmed that the Magic V3 will support AI eye protection and AI anti-fraud features, although it's unclear if the Vs3 will have these capabilities. The Magic V3 series is expected to come with a large 5,000mAh battery. The flagship V3 model was spotted on the 3C certification site, indicating support for 66W wired fast charging. This listing also confirmed the inclusion of satellite connectivity.
For photography, the Magic V3 will feature a large camera island on the rear, housing a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a telephoto shooter with up to 3.5x optical zoom, and possibly an ultra-wide-angle lens. Honor will officially announce the Magic V3 and Magic Vs3 in China on July 12, 2024. Stay tuned for our coverage of the launch event next week.
