HMD Global Launches HMD Arc: Simple Smartphone for Everyday Use

HMD Global has released the HMD Arc, which is a budget-friendly smartphone aimed at users looking for essential features. Although the price and availability have not been shared yet, the specifications suggest a straightforward entry-level device.

HMD Arc Features

The Nokia HMD Arc focuses on basic functionalities. It comes with a 6.52-inch HD+ LCD screen that has a 60Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. You'll find a teardrop notch at the top of the display, which houses the front-facing camera.

With a Unisoc 9863A chip, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage (which can be expanded with microSD), the phone is designed to manage everyday tasks such as browsing the web, using social media, and light gaming. It operates on Android 14 (Go edition), providing a smooth experience on its entry-level specs. This simplified Android version is especially nice for newcomers to smartphones or those moving from older models.

Battery and Camera

One of the key highlights of the HMD Arc is its 5000mAh battery, which is expected to last casual users all day long. However, the 10W charging speed might frustrate those used to quicker charging options.

On the back, there’s a dual-camera layout that features a 13MP primary sensor along with a secondary sensor that's not specified. The front camera, at 5MP, is good enough for basic selfies and video calls, emphasizing the phone's practical purpose rather than advanced photography capabilities.

Security and Updates

Even though it’s an affordable option, the HMD Arc doesn't overlook security. It includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and has an IP52/IP54 rating against dust and water splashes, making it more appealing. HMD Global also promises two years of security updates, which is a notable commitment in the budget smartphone market.
