Samsung has been grabbing headlines with its upcoming foldable devices and wearables, but its next S-series flagship is also drawing attention.
A well-known leaker, Ice Universe, recently shared intriguing information on the Chinese social media platform Weibo regarding the anticipated S25 Ultra. According to this source, the next flagship will see a design change, being slimmer than its predecessor. The S25 Ultra is expected to be 8.4mm thick, compared to the S24 Ultra's 8.6mm.
Camera Capabilities
Despite the slight reduction in thickness, Samsung isn't sacrificing camera quality. While concrete details remain undisclosed, rumors suggest the S25 Ultra will boast a 200MP main camera, along with 50MP ultrawide, 50MP 3x telephoto, and 50MP 5x telephoto lenses.
In another post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ice Universe provided additional insights into the design. The S25 Ultra will reportedly be more comfortable to hold, moving away from the sharp corners of the S24 Ultra and adopting a rounded design similar to the S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra.
Potential Chipset Changes
Another rumor from earlier this week hints that Samsung might incorporate MediaTek chips into the S25 series for the first time. If true, this would bring the total number of SoCs for the S-series flagship to three, including those from Qualcomm and Samsung's own Exynos chips. However, this remains speculative, and the inclusion of MediaTek chips should be treated with caution.
Currently, Samsung has ample time before the Galaxy S25 series launch. The company's immediate focus is on the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and a range of wearables, including the Galaxy Ring, Buds 3 series, and new Galaxy watches, all set to be revealed at the July 10th Unpacked event.
