Nubia Z60 Ultra: A Unique Smartphone with Under-Display Camera

Nubia, a brand that is not widely known in the international smartphone market, occasionally releases devices for global customers. The upcoming Nubia Z60 Ultra smartphone is one such device that is expected to make a splash. It will feature an immersive full-screen display thanks to its under-display camera technology.

Global Launch Details

According to the brand's global website, the Nubia Z60 Ultra will have a global launch on December 19 at 7:00 AM EST. Interestingly, this is the same date as its launch in China. However, the Chinese launch will take place approximately six hours earlier.

A Unique Design and Camera Setup

Apart from the hidden camera under the display, what sets the Nubia Z60 Ultra apart is its design. While many top-tier smartphones stick to simple and safe designs, the Z60 Ultra showcases a unique camera setup that displays each lens separately. Some may find it flashy, but there seems to be a positive response to this change on the internet. Additionally, the brand has teased a popular Starry Night Collector's Edition design for the Z60 Ultra in China, with hopes of bringing this option to the global market as well.

Nubia Z60 Ultra: Expected Specifications

The Nubia Z60 Ultra is rumored to come with a 6.8-inch OLED display featuring a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. What makes the screen intriguing is the absence of a punch-hole, ensuring a genuine full-screen experience with the integration of the company's fifth-generation in-display selfie camera solution.

Powering the Z60 Ultra will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, accompanied by a sizable 6,000mAh battery that supports 80W charging. Following its predecessor's lead, the device may offer up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The expected operating system is MyOS-based Android 14. Additionally, a recent teaser has confirmed the device's IP68 rating, indicating dustproof and water-resistant capabilities.

In terms of optics, the Z60 Ultra is anticipated to feature an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera. The periscope camera is expected to provide up to 3x optical zoom. On the front, the device may sport a 16MP selfie camera.

With its unique design, under-display camera, and impressive specifications, the Nubia Z60 Ultra is set to make a statement in the smartphone market. Stay tuned for its global launch on December 19th to learn more about this exciting device.
