Apple is set to discontinue support for several older generation iPads starting with the release of iPadOS 18. Speculations emerged in February indicating that the A10X Fusion-based iPads would not be compatible with iPadOS 18. This suggested that the initial 10.5-inch iPad Pro from 2017 and the second-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro might miss out on the iPadOS 18 update, although the related tweet was swiftly removed.
Rumors Resurface
9to5Mac has recently rediscovered rumors reinforcing this claim, stating that the 6th generation iPad, the 2nd generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro, and the first generation 10.5-inch iPad Pro are indeed excluded from receiving the iPadOS 18 update.
Compatibility Details
Despite the aforementioned devices being left out, iPadOS 18 is expected to support the same range of devices as iPadOS 17. For instance, the 2019 7th generation iPad, equipped with the A10 Fusion processor, is likely to receive the iPadOS 18 update.
