Google has recently unveiled its newest Feature Drop for Pixel smartphones, and we’ve covered that in detail. Moreover, the Pixel Watch 3 has gained new capabilities for pulse detection and emergency services in more regions. However, if you dig deeper into the extensive blog post, you’ll find some exciting information regarding not only current Pixel Watch models but also Fitbit smartwatches and fitness trackers.

    Fitbit Transition and Features

To give you some background, Google has shifted users from the Fitbit site to its own webstore. Yet, Fitbit is still rolling out new features for its gadgets, including the updates made to the Ace LTE (currently $227.99 on Amazon) last month. In the near future, Google’s revamped Daily Readiness algorithm will be integrated into the Fitbit app for a range of smartwatches and fitness trackers.

    New Metrics Coming Soon

Additionally, Fitbit will introduce Cardio Load and Target Load metrics, set to launch on December 9. Interestingly, these features will also be accessible on the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 through the Fitbit Today app and the Readiness complication. • OnePlus Watch 3 Gets FCC Approval, Features Bigger Battery

OnePlus Watch 3 Gets FCC Approval, Features Bigger Battery

OnePlus is said to be preparing for the release of its newest smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 3. This device is anticipated to launch alongside the OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 13R flagship smartphones on a global scale. The OnePlus Watch 3 has recently been listed on certification platforms such as India’s BIS and China’s MIIT, which have disclosed important details and design aspects. Now, additional information has surfaced on the FCC certification platform, shedding more light on the device ahead of its official introduction.

    FCC Listing Insights

The OnePlus Watch 3, identified by the model number OPWWE251, was found on the FCC’s site, where it is classified as a "Watch." The certification details the dimensions of the OnePlus Watch 3—46.6 x 47.6 x 11.75mm. In comparison, its predecessor, the OnePlus Watch 2, has dimensions of 47 x 46.6 x 12.1mm, featuring a 46mm case size and a 1.43-inch AMOLED display. Thus, the new smartwatch will be slightly thinner than the previous model.

    Battery and Connectivity Features

Another significant piece of information from the FCC listing is the inclusion of a much larger battery. The OnePlus Watch 3 will be equipped with a 631mAh rated battery (648mAh typical), which marks a considerable increase from the OnePlus Watch 2’s 500mAh battery. This enhancement may lead to better battery performance, which is undoubtedly a critical factor for any wearable device.

The certification also specifies the connectivity features of the upcoming smartwatch, which will include Bluetooth (BR+EDR+BLE), GNSS, NFC, and dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz). The mention of the "EUT" (Equipment Under Testing) label suggests that this is a nearly finished product. Similar to the Watch 2, there are no indications of cellular connectivity for this model.

    Anticipated Specs and Features

The smartwatch is likely to utilize the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear W5 SoC, the same chipset found in its predecessor. The OnePlus Watch 2 was launched at a price of Rs 24,999 in India, boasting a variety of features such as an AMOLED display with 1000nits peak brightness, military-grade durability, and 5ATM + IP68 water and dust resistance. It also supports over 100 sports modes and incorporates the Snapdragon W5 + BES 2700 dual processors.

G-Shock DW-5000R: Iconic Watch Returns at a Premium Price

Casio is bringing back the legendary G-Shock DW-5000, which was the first model that started the famous watch series in 1983. The new version, called the DW-5000R, has appeared on the G-Shock UK website, suggesting that it will be available soon. Before the official launch, Casio has revealed the price for the UK market, and details about the European pricing have also emerged.

  • Google Pixel Watch 3: Pulse Detection and Emergency Features Update

Google Pixel Watch 3: Pulse Detection and Emergency Features Update

Google has rolled out the December 2024 feature update for its Pixel smartphones and the Pixel Watch. As is typical, it might take a little while for all users with compatible devices to receive this update. This new version brings two emergency features to Germany that were already available in some other areas.

    New Emergency Features

One of these new features is Fall Detection. This function automatically makes an emergency call if a user falls and doesn’t get up within 30 seconds, and then fails to respond to the smartwatch’s alarm within 60 seconds. When this happens, emergency services are notified through a voice message indicating that the Pixel Watch has registered a serious fall along with the user’s GPS location.

    Car Crash Detection and More

Car Crash Detection is now accessible in Germany for the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3. This feature alerts emergency services and designated contacts if the user is involved in a car accident and doesn’t reply to the smartwatch’s alerts. Additionally, a new feature called Loss of Pulse Detection has been introduced for users in both Germany and Portugal, which is solely available on the Pixel Watch 3.

How Loss of Pulse Detection Works

This Loss of Pulse Detection feature identifies when the heart stops beating due to various reasons like respiratory arrest, poisoning, or cardiac arrest. If no pulse is found, an emergency call is triggered after a 20-second delay, giving users enough time to cancel it in case of a mistake. It uses data from the heart rate monitor and motion sensors, analyzed through AI technology, to reduce the chance of false alarms.

  • Movano Health’s Smart Ring Receives Key Health Tracking Certification

Movano Health’s Smart Ring Receives Key Health Tracking Certification

Movano Health has shared the exciting news that its EvieMED Ring has now received FDA certification. This certification essentially confirms that the device is capable of accurately measuring specific parameters, ensuring that users can trust the values it provides. Having this type of approval as a medical device is likely the most significant proof that these wearable gadgets work as promised, which is crucial for consumers.

    Certification Details

The EvieMED Ring has been officially certified concerning its pulse oximeter functionality. Pulse oximetry measures the (relative) oxygen saturation levels in the blood. Typically, this saturation should be above 90%, but it can decrease significantly during severe health conditions. Moreover, oxygen levels may drop while a person sleeps, which might indicate sleep apnea. Such signs warrant immediate evaluation by a healthcare professional.

    Research Applications

Thanks to its FDA certification, the EvieMED Ring is now eligible for use by healthcare professionals in research, like studying how effective different interventions are for preventing drops in oxygen saturation during sleep. According to the company’s press release, Movano Health is engaging in discussions with international pharmaceutical firms about using the EvieMED Ring for future clinical trials. They are also making progress on RF technology aimed at measuring blood pressure and blood sugar levels using radio frequencies.
