  • New Casio G-Shock GM-2100YM-8A and GM-5600YM-8 Leaked Details

New Casio G-Shock GM-2100YM-8A and GM-5600YM-8 Leaked Details

A recent leak from the well-known Japanese G-Shock fan site, Great G-Shock World, has disclosed information about two new Casio models: the GM-2100YM-8A and GM-5600YM-8. These timepieces, showcasing metallic-inspired designs, are expected to be released this January, coinciding with the recently leaked GA-010 and GD-010 series watches.

Design and Features of the GM-2100YM-8A

The GM-2100YM-8A enhances the popular octagonal bezel of the 2100 series, recognized for its sleek and simple style. According to the leaked pictures, it seems to come with a shiny silver metal case and a light resin strap, ensuring both strength and comfort. If it follows the typical features of the series, it might also have Tough Solar charging, 200m water resistance, and world time functionality. The leak mentions a price of ¥40,150 (~$255) for this particular model.

    Overview of the GM-5600YM-8

On the other hand, the GM-5600YM-8 adheres to the traditional square shape of the 5600 series, offering a similar metallic silver look. This model is likely priced a bit lower at ¥37,400 (~$237), appealing to lovers of the classic design. It could come with features like a full-auto calendar, LED backlight, and various alarms.

    Casio’s Metal-Like Design Trend

Both models reflect Casio‘s recent trend of integrating metal-like aesthetics into their resin watches, as shown in earlier releases like the GM-B2100D-1A, which featured a complete metal design for the 2100 series, and the GM-5600SN-1, which had a shiny metal bezel paired with a resin strap.

While all this information is based on leaks, we still await official confirmation from Casio. More news is anticipated as we get closer to the rumored release date.

  • Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro Iron Man Edition: New Marvel-Themed Phone

Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro Iron Man Edition: New Marvel-Themed Phone

Xiaomi has been hyping up the Poco X7 and Poco X7 Pro for several days, and they have confirmed that these two models will officially launch worldwide on January 9. However, the focus has now shifted to a new model that was spotted in a regulatory filing about two weeks ago.

Poco X7 Pro Iron Man Edition Details

Xiaomi has shared some information about the Poco X7 Pro Iron Man Edition, but this news is currently only coming from Poco Thailand. This suggests that the phone might only be available in limited quantities, similar to the previous Deadpool Edition of the Poco F6, which currently costs $349 on Amazon. It is still unclear if the Iron Man Edition will be available in other regions or if it will have a broader release.

    Expected Features and Specifications

We anticipate that the Iron Man Edition will focus more on design changes rather than upgrades in performance. For example, you can notice stylish accents around the camera lenses and the power button that are not present on the standard Poco X7 Pro. The Poco X7 Pro Iron Man Edition is also set to launch on January 9, featuring a Dimensity 8400 Ultra processor, a massive 120 Hz AMOLED screen, and either a 6,000 mAh or a 6,550 mAh battery depending on the market it’s sold in.

Samsung Teases Gen 4 QD-OLED Gaming Monitors Ahead of CES 2025

Samsung has joined Asus and MSI in revealing their new QD-OLED monitors just before CES 2025. Unlike its competitors, Samsung has chosen to disclose all the new monitors it will show at this year’s conference in Las Vegas.

Odyssey OLED G6 and G8: Key Highlights

The Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF and the Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF are likely to steal the spotlight, thanks to the new Gen 4 QD-OLED panels they utilize. Both of these monitors are 27 inches, but they differ in their native resolutions and refresh rates.

The Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF replaces the older G60SD (currently priced at $699.45 on Amazon), offering a resolution of 1440p with a refresh rate of 360 Hz. In contrast, the G60SF supports a much higher refresh rate of 500 Hz while still keeping a 1440p resolution. Notably, it also comes with variable refresh rate (VRR) technology and is compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-SYNC, which helps reduce image tearing.

    The G81SF and More

On the other hand, the G81SF is among the first 27-inch QD-OLED monitors to offer 4K resolution. This gives it a pixel density of 166 PPI, paired with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, along with VRR, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, and Nvidia G-SYNC support.

In addition, Samsung has announced it will display the Smart Monitor M9 M90SF at CES 2025. As stated in its Korean-language press release, the M90SF features Tizen OS, providing Smart TV capabilities across its 32-inch OLED 4K panel, which has a refresh rate of 165 Hz.

    Other Exciting Displays

Moreover, the Odyssey 3D G90XF will also be showcased as a glasses-free 3D gaming monitor, which boasts a 27-inch 4K IPS panel. Lastly, Samsung has introduced the Viewfinity S8 S80UD, the largest of the five monitors at 37 inches. This monitor is tailored for work, delivering a 4K native resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio, along with a USB hub that supports 90 W charging. It is expected that Samsung will unveil complete information regarding these monitors, including pricing and availability, early next week.

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Expected to Outshine iPhone 17 Cameras

Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim Expected to Outshine iPhone 17 Cameras

Apple is reportedly enhancing its supply chain to introduce variable aperture cameras in the next generation of iPhones, according to recent speculation.

    Improved Camera Capabilities

The upcoming device, expected to be called the 18 Pro and/or Pro Max, could offer better control over depth of field. However, it seems like Apple will only be catching up to competitors like Honor’s Magic7 RSR at this stage of the game.

    New Telephoto Lens Features

The “18 Pro series” may also come equipped with a sophisticated telephoto lens to complement the new camera capabilities. Reputable leaker Digital Chat Station has suggested that this lens will be based on innovative technology.

    Advanced Zoom Technology

This camera module could feature a highly advanced “multi-fold” type of periscope zoom, unlike the newer all-on-prism lens (ALoP) that’s associated with the anticipated Galaxy S25 Slim.

Apple’s 2026 iPhones might offer significant improvements over the current 16 Pro series, which is priced at $1,024.97 in Renewed condition on Amazon. However, they may still not be as advanced as certain older Samsung models.

    Future Developments

The tech giant from Cupertino might also be working on its first variable-aperture iPhone, in tandem with its rumored first foldable device and small Dynamic Island displays.

  • Figure AI’s Humanoid Robot Delivers to First Customer

Figure AI’s Humanoid Robot Delivers to First Customer

Figure 02 is the newer model of Figure 01, which was launched in October 2023, and it was first shown to the public in August 2024. This humanoid robot, developed by the Californian start-up Figure AI, is outfitted with six RGB cameras, depth cameras, and infrared sensors, providing it with an impressive full 360-degree view of its surroundings. Its hands have 16 degrees of freedom, allowing it to replicate human-like precision and strength, making it ideal for detailed tasks that require both hands.

    Advanced Features

Thanks to a partnership with OpenAI, the minds behind ChatGPT, Figure 02 can comprehend voice commands and make its own choices, enabling it to work as a "thinking" companion. During a trial at the BMW factory in Spartanburg, USA, the robot showed off its practical abilities. The accompanying video gives a sneak peek into how well it performed during these tests.

    Exciting Developments

Brett Adcock, the founder and CEO of Figure AI, announced on LinkedIn that Figure 02 is already "hard at work", hinting at its initial delivery to a customer. However, specifics about where it will be deployed and its price haven’t been shared yet. This achievement marks a key moment in the journey toward making humanoid robots more commercially available.

    Strong Backing

Figure AI is supported by major investors such as Microsoft, OpenAI, Nvidia, and Jeff Bezos, which has led to a valuation of $2.6 billion, placing it among the best-funded startups in the industry. The first delivery is likely to bring the company nearer to Tesla, whose Optimus robot is still limited to usage within its factories. Notably, Figure AI has transitioned from its establishment in January 2022 to monetizing its product in only 31 months.

  • Samsung Develops 500 MP Camera Sensors for iPhones and Galaxy S

Samsung Develops 500 MP Camera Sensors for iPhones and Galaxy S

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with an impressive 200 MP main camera, priced at about $915 on Amazon. This smartphone boasts one of the highest resolutions available in mobile devices. In fact, the resolution of the S24 Ultra’s main sensor surpasses that of both full-frame and medium-format cameras. For example, the Hasselblad X2D-100C features a resolution of just 100 MP.

    Pixel Size Matters

Despite its high resolution, the S24 Ultra has a sensor size of 1/1.3”, which means the pixels in its main camera are only 0.6 µm in size. This is much smaller than the 3.76 µm pixels found on the Hasselblad X2D-100C. According to leaker @Jukanlosreve, Samsung is looking to push boundaries even further with plans to create a 500 MP sensor for upcoming Galaxy S smartphones. This increase in pixel count would enhance the effectiveness of digital zoom. Nevertheless, it’s important to note that higher resolution usually doesn’t improve dynamic range or lens speed.

    Competition with Apple

In an interesting development, Samsung Semiconductor is also said to be creating a sensor specifically for the Apple iPhone series. This could be a big deal for Samsung since the iPhone 16 Pro relies solely on Sony camera sensors. Thanks to advanced packaging technology, this new sensor is expected to have a unique three-layer design, positioning electronics behind light-sensitive parts to increase light sensitivity. While more information about this sensor hasn’t been disclosed, previous rumors indicate that the iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature up to three 48 MP cameras.
