  • Galaxy S25 Slim Camera Specs: 200MP Sensor & ALoP Lens Tech

Galaxy S25 Slim Camera Specs: 200MP Sensor & ALoP Lens Tech

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series is generating a lot of excitement ahead of its release, and recent rumors indicate the addition of a new “Slim” variant to the lineup. This model is anticipated to offer a distinctive camera setup that seeks to combine high-end performance with a more streamlined design.

    Galaxy S25 Slim Camera Features

A previous disclosure from well-known leaker Ice Universe hinted that this new version would incorporate an “Ultra” camera, which is thought to come with a 200MP primary camera. However, the leaker didn’t provide any more specifics about the camera features. Now, a fresh leak from Twitter user @Saaaanjjjuuu has revealed the three sensors that the supposed Galaxy S25 Slim may include.

Specifications of the Galaxy S25 Slim

The Galaxy S25 Slim is said to house a 200MP main camera, utilizing Samsung’s upcoming Isocell HP5 sensor. This sensor is 1/1.56″ in size, which is smaller than the 1/1.3″ Isocell HP2 sensor found in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This smaller size fits with Samsung’s goal for a thinner design by reducing the camera module’s protrusion and possibly creating a more delicate overall device profile.

In addition to the main sensor, the Slim model is rumored to incorporate two 1/2.76″ Isocell JN5 sensors for ultrawide and 3.5x telephoto photography. Notably, the telephoto lens boasts a higher resolution of 50MP compared to the current 10MP of the 3x telephoto lens, offering a slightly extended zoom. With a 50MP resolution, this telephoto setup is also expected to provide clearer digital zoom features, akin to the 50MP 5x telephoto lens from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the 6x telephoto lens from the Oppo Find X8 Pro.

Innovative Technology in the Slim Model

Samsung’s latest ALoP (Advanced Lens on Plastic) technology is reported to play a vital role in the design of the Slim model. This advancement helps to reduce the thickness of the camera arrangement without sacrificing optical quality. Moreover, AI-driven enhancements are anticipated to boost clarity and detail, especially for zoomed images, building on the features introduced with the Galaxy S24 series.

The integration of a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens, and state-of-the-art AI is likely to present a significant upgrade over the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus.

The Galaxy S25 series is speculated to launch in January 2025, with the Slim variant potentially debuting later in the year.

  • Asus ROG Phone 9: Fast Display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, 1TB Storage

Asus ROG Phone 9: Fast Display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, 1TB Storage

Asus has revealed its latest high-end gaming smartphone: the ROG Phone 9. Similar to last year, it has a ‘Pro’ version that doesn’t feature any specification enhancements. Instead, the ROG Phone 9 Pro comes with customizable LEDs on the back, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage. The top-tier ROG Phone 9 Pro model boasts up to 1 TB of storage and 24 GB of RAM, as earlier leaks suggested. Plus, purchasers will receive a complimentary AeroActive X cooler.

    Powerful Performance

Inside, the Asus ROG Phone 9 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The base model includes 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which maxes out at 512 GB, but without an increase in RAM. It’s equipped with Asus’ proprietary ROG GameCool 9 cooling system, adaptive triggers, and compatibility with a variety of gaming accessories from Asus.

    Color Options and AI Features

The ROG Phone 9 is available in two colors: Phantom Black and Storm White. However, only the Pro version comes in Storm White. It features a matte finish with a ‘crystallized nano structure’ designed to resist fingerprints. Additionally, it includes AI-driven functionalities like X Sense 3, which “utilizes AI image recognition to streamline gaming activities such as identifying key events and automatically gathering items.” It can even enhance skills on your behalf, though this will likely depend on developer support and may only work with select games.

    Advanced Recording and Display

There’s also X Capture 2.0, which leverages AI to detect significant events and automatically record highlights, team fights, and similar moments. Furthermore, the ROG Phone 9 includes AI-enabled text recognition and noise cancellation features. Asus has significantly raised the bar with the ROG Phone 9, which features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display boasting a refresh rate of 185 Hz and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. However, the dynamic refresh rate operates only between 1 and 120 Hz. In reality, most games likely won’t achieve 185 Hz on a mobile processor, but a few might manage it through AI-enhanced upscaling and frame generation technology.

    Battery and Camera Specs

The Asus ROG Phone 9 is equipped with a 5,800 mAh battery that supports 65 W fast charging via cable and 15 W wirelessly. On the rear, you’ll find a 50 MP wide-angle camera with OIS, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 32 MP telephoto lens (OIS, 3x optical zoom), along with a 32 MP front-facing camera. Additional specifications include two USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, 5G, Bluetooth 5.4, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

    Availability and Pricing

You can now pre-order the Asus ROG Phone 9 through major online retailers, but it won’t be available until January 2. However, orders made on Asus’ official site will arrive before Christmas. The pricing starts at $1,099 for the ROG Phone 9, $1,299 for the ROG Phone 9 Pro, and $1,499 for the Pro variant with 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.

The Vivo X200 series made its debut last month in China, introducing three models: the standard X200, X200 Pro Mini, and X200 Pro. Recently, a new rumor has appeared online suggesting that the Chinese brand plans to unveil two additional models in the X200 series in 2025.

    Details from Weibo

This information was shared on Weibo, a popular Chinese social media platform. A user known as Smart Pikachu has reported that the upcoming models in the X200 series will feature displays with 1.5K and 2K resolutions. Furthermore, these new devices are expected to offer both curved and flat screen options for consumers.

    Display Manufacturers

According to the leak, the display suppliers may include both Samsung and a local Chinese company. However, there hasn’t been any official word on the naming convention or other important specifications yet.

    Past Models and Future Prospects

Looking back, the previous Vivo X100 series also included multiple models. The initial launch featured the standard and Pro variants. Subsequently, Vivo released the X100s and X100s Pro models, which were powered by the Dimensity 9300+ chipset. It’s possible that Vivo will take a similar approach with the X200 series. Nevertheless, there are still questions about global availability, as the X100s and X100s Pro did not make it to international markets.

  • Amazon Delays Alexa’s AI Update Due to Latency Issues

Amazon Delays Alexa’s AI Update Due to Latency Issues

Leaked internal documents obtained by Fortune reveal various technical issues related to the upcoming AI revamp for Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant. A major issue is latency, which refers to the delay in how long it takes for the AI to answer a question.

    Testing Feedback and Concerns

The latency concern is serious enough that several internal testers have rated the new assistant poorly. The average score given by testers was 4.5 out of 7, falling short of the target score of 5.5 out of 7. The team is worried that if this product is launched in its current condition, it could lead to user frustration.

    Key Issues Highlighted

The memo states that “latency continues to be a major issue” that will need “notable improvements.” Another significant challenge is the possibility that some older Echo devices might not work with the new assistant.

Amazon spokesperson Lauren Raemhild mentioned to Fortune, “Generative AI presents a significant opportunity to enhance Alexa for our customers.” She added, “We are diligently working to provide even more proactive and capable assistance on the more than half a billion Alexa-enabled devices already present in homes globally.”

    Challenges Faced by the Team

The team is also encountering numerous technological and administrative challenges, such as insufficient data for training its AI model or resources being redirected to focus on Generative AI for Amazon’s cloud services. The memos indicate that the relaunch of Alexa has been postponed at least three times, with the latest date set for November 14, 2024.

  • Nubia Z70 Ultra Camera Features Unveiled Before Launch

Nubia Z70 Ultra Camera Features Unveiled Before Launch

Nubia is set to launch its new flagship smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, called the Z70 Ultra, in China. The design of this phone has already been revealed, and now the company has provided more information about its camera features.

    Camera Features Unveiled

As seen in earlier renders, the Nubia Z70 Ultra is equipped with a primary sensor that has a variable aperture. This is the same 50 MP sensor found in its predecessor, but the variable aperture should enhance low-light photography and give users more control over depth of field.

Nubia has mentioned that the main camera’s aperture can be adjusted between f/1.59 and f/4.0. Additionally, there will be a special Night Sky mode that allows for long exposure shots of the night sky. Accompanying the primary camera is a 64 MP telephoto lens with a f/2.48 aperture, which is wider than the one used in the previous model.

    Additional Camera Specs

The third camera on the back of the Nubia Z70 Ultra will be an ultrawide sensor with autofocus. This camera will include a macro mode for capturing intricate close-up images. Although the resolution for the ultrawide camera hasn’t been officially stated, it is expected to maintain the 50 MP specification from the earlier model.

In addition to the sensor specifics, Nubia has confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship will come with a physical camera button. Unlike the capacitive button found on the iPhone 16 series, this button will be a two-step physical one, similar to the design found in Sony’s Xperia smartphones (like the 1 VI available on Amazon). Nubia has also shared some camera samples that showcase the phone’s imaging capabilities. You can view those below.
