HMD Global, the company responsible for Nokia smartphones, has recently introduced a new lineup of smartphones under its own branding. These devices, namely the HMD Pulse, HMD Pulse+, and HMD Pulse Pro, are designed to be affordable options for users and boast "Gen 1 repairability," allowing for component swapping such as batteries and screens.
Discrepancy in Promotional Images
Customers who purchased these devices early on noticed a difference between the promotional images, which depicted uniform bezels on the Pulse and Pulse+ models, and the actual products that feature a thicker chin bezel. Following this feedback, HMD issued an apology and updated its website to display accurate renderings.
Statement from HMD Global
Lars Silberbauer, the Chief Marketing Officer at HMD Global, addressed the situation by expressing regret over the misrepresentation of the devices. He clarified that there was no intention to mislead customers and assured that the website now showcases the smartphones accurately. A comparison between the initial promotional images and the updated versions is available for viewing.
Specifications and Pricing
All three new HMD smartphones are equipped with the Unisoc T606 processor, a 6.65-inch display, and a 5000 mAh battery. Differentiating factors lie mainly in the camera specifications. The HMD Pulse is priced at €139 ($150) and features a 13 MP main camera along with an 8 MP selfie camera. The HMD Pulse+ is priced at €160 ($171) and comes with a 50 MP main camera. On the other hand, the HMD Pulse Pro, priced at €180 ($193), boasts a 50 MP main camera, a 50 MP selfie camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor. Additionally, the Pulse Pro supports faster 20W charging, in contrast to the 10W charging capabilities of the other models.
