The dark fantasy Metroidvania Winds of Arcana: Ruination has launched this week on Xbox Game Pass, bringing its blend of swordplay and sorcery to subscribers across console, PC, and cloud. Developer Brewed Games and publisher 1312 Interactive confirmed that Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass members can now download the title on Xbox Series X/S and Windows.
A Seamless Multi-Platform Launch
The release takes full advantage of the Xbox Play Anywhere initiative, enabling players to move their character progression and save files freely between console, handheld, and cloud sessions. To mark the launch, the teams published a new trailer on YouTube. For those who prefer to own a standalone copy, the game is also available for purchase on Steam.
Flexible Combat, Living World
Players step into the role of Aryn, a warrior searching for his missing comrades across a hand-drawn 2.5D landscape. Rather than locking players into a rigid class, the game encourages switching between physical armaments and magical abilities on the fly. The arsenal includes signature weapons such as the Master Sword and the Lich Hammer, while the entire narrative is delivered through full voice acting rather than silent text boxes.
Progression depends on discovering both combat enhancements and traversal tools. Scattered Soul Crests let Aryn channel the power of fallen warriors to unlock fresh spells, rounding out his offensive and defensive options against a variety of hostile creatures.
Exploring With Artifices
Navigation is anchored by a set of relics called Artifices. These unlockable tools introduce a glider for soaring across gaps, a grappling hook for latching onto distant anchors, and the ability to conjure temporary platforms in mid-air. Mastery of all three is essential for solving environmental puzzles, bridging wide chasms, and revealing secret corridors woven into the map.
The arrival of Winds of Arcana: Ruination expands an already busy season for the genre, which continues to see strong interest across both subscription services and traditional storefronts. Separately, Klei Entertainment and Playdigious have scheduled the mobile edition of the multiplayer survival title Don’t Starve Together for July 21, 2026, signaling ongoing momentum for cross-platform expansions within the broader indie space.
